for me, its impossible to compare these 2 games
its like comedy vs. horror/drama

both games r great in their field and i loved GK 1, 2 (i never get to play GK 3 more than a few days b4 something happens and i lose my savegames) and i loved the whole MI series as well

Plot and characters are just great besides it's one of the better FMV games around.True gameplay is somewhat limited but the same goes for FMV adventure games in general so it's hardly a flaw.

Default I would love to vote but...

I would love to vote but I have never played the Gabriel Knight series. Monkey Island is the best video game series I've ever played and played and played.

Then I suppose I shouldn't bother looking up the three FMV games in the Tex Murphy series.

"...I can say that you don't have a taste at all."

I'm gonna go and enjoy *insert boring and ill developed adventure game here*

It IS really hard to compare the two... but I only played the very first GK game, where I have played all the MI games multiple times, so my vote is easy...

I mean I love the GK theme with supernatural thriller and such... Black Mirror is a favorite as well and in my opinion superior to Gabriel Knight 1 and 2.
GK1 was at a time my second favorite adventure but the changes made in 2,3 dampened my overall view of the series. 2,3 Had great stories but was missing something.

this is a very silly thread. It's not as if they're in the same story genre or have any similarities altogether.

Although I'm sure people compare Star Wars to LOTR.

no but they're both largely popular adventure series.

Most people compare LOTR with Harry Potter, which btw LOTR kicks HP's ass. ^^

The both games are the most popular third person point'n click adventure series in adventure genre so they actually have similarity. Also we can say that one is the prime series of LucasArts while the other one is Sierra's prime series.

They're comparable as in, you can love one more than the other. The fact that they're so different makes it easier to decide which one you like the best.

Actually, I think it's a pretty close call between Sierra fans and LucasArts fans. Only one of them is right, of course .

For adventure games I mean, like I prefer Sierra for like pharaoh and caesar, they were the most fun simulation game.. things.. lol, but for Adventure/ point n click Lucas are the godfathers ^^
