We've gotta see an adventure game made with this engine. Prerendered backgrounds, goodbye!

It looks rather Quake 3.
It appears we're still stuck with heavy belts and hanging pouches to cover up the fact that 3D still cannot adequately render the human ass in all its glory. Modelers need to spend more polygons in the ass... |

Isn't that what Lara Croft is for?

Are you quite sure?
... but does anyone really care anymore what "Black Hawk Down the Trenches of Battle for Middle Earth 1942 During the San Andreas Quake" looks like with the latest shaders and normal maps? There's very few games coming out these days that have even remotely interesting gameplay. On the plus side, at least now I pretty much have time to play all the good ones... Great link there. You should open up a media thread, failing that join animationnation.com and discuss tits an... er... CG art and animation more fully. It's great to see some real studied human CG work.

Given how you've been going on lately in chitchat, let some of us other blokes have a little fun.
Only kidding... seriously, sometimes it's all about pose and form. The guy's clearly influenced by George Petty and various other sci-fi artists. The female figure is something which allows for some very subtle work. The pics on offer here are a good example of getting anatomy correct whilst nailing a specific style. Having attempted 3D, and as a 2D artist, it's really admirable work. Wish I could do that. edit - where are the sex pics? It's all partial nudity!

Trepsie, don't you think you're overreacting just a tad? I mean, sex pics??? Do you consider life drawing pornography as well? I agree Stahlberg's work usually tends a little more towards titillation than art, something he himself freely admits, but there's a lot there that's more subtle as well.

Actually while we're on the subject of digital nudity, 3D artist Jeremy Engleman has developed an interesting approach to life drawing in 3D. Basically he has these generic male and female models which he takes on his laptop to life drawing classes, then he quickly modifies the mesh to resemble the model... the result is rather interesting.

That's beautiful. But my reaction had more to do with commercial games. Clearly many of these digital women seem to be created with games in mind, and too many times we've seen women in games as scantily clad and oversexed. Can they not focus on other attributes? What about older women? I want to see a few wrinkles, please. And very expressive eyes, the kind that age and experience create. The kinds of things that character, not sexual availability, bring out.

I always imagine bikini-shaped suits of armour must be very uncomfortable, not to mention somewhat impractical when it comes to the purpose of defending oneself against attacks.

Unless you have psi powers and make yourself a nice impenetrable force field. Then you might as well be nekkid.

Indeed. That game was a smash hit in the good ol' days. Sex sells. And the geeks are buying. That's how things work in the gaming industry. I feel like I have to defend myself somewhat by saying, that I did own a pirated copy of that game (and the game itself actually kicked asses), so..
I fondly remember the sexual tension we encountered, when we were like 7 or maybe 8 years old. Watching that hot barbarian chick threatened by some phallic monster. A scene which ended, when her head was bitten off, and the game over screen appeared. For yet another time. Reload and try again. Oh, those memories.

Um, you felt sexual tension when you were 8 years old?
