I know you're probably gonna get banned anyway, but please don't bring that into my threads please, Ps3Lover. Especially since PS3 wasn't an option (though obviously I considered it at some point, probably before the price was revealed; I just dismissed it before this thread started)
Anyways, yea it seems the problem is more deciding on what kind of gaming I want as opposed to specifically a product. I think I've decided to temporarily cross the Wii off as I think I'd rather wait a little while to see how the games in the near future look. As of now only Twilight Princess really catches my eye, but I do love love love Zelda. The 360 and DS seem more or less proven to stick around and continue supporting good games. If Nintendo (or some other company) releases a few games as fun as Elite Beat Agents and Mario Kart DS a year then I'm totally sold. As has been said, the 360 would probably be my first choice considering the number of games I want that are exclusive to it (at least in terms of consoles) that I want to play. If I did ultimately decide on the 360 then I would have to wait it out for a while for my bank account to justify the act and maybe hopefully a price drop.

If you don't care about next gen, then I would reccomend the PS2 or original xbox. Both very awesome systems as well.

It was tough, but I think I'm gonna go with a DS/lite for the moment, the reasoning being that I love Nintendo and wish to support them this generation. And it's a nice easy transition into gaming, while short for time and money, until I figure everything out here. Once I truly settle into the college lifestyle and have a steady job and can start spending more money, then I think I will start looking at bigger purchases such as consoles (and cameras and consumer electronics).
Also, I won't be able to embarass myself on XBox Live.

you can embarrass yourself on ds lite wi-fi connection.. Congratulations on your choice, I think you'll have lots of good times with it.
I recommend Phoenix Wright, off course, Another code (trace memory), and several mario games. Mario cart is fun, and new super mario bros is supposed to be very good (I haven't gotten further than the first save point..).

I'd add Advance Warsual Strike to the list. Fun, addictive, and very challenging strategy game.
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/924889.asp I'm not sure how you feel about Castlevania games but Castlevaniaawn of Sorrow is also very good.

Oh yea that's the one I was meaning to put on. I had it in the back of my head the entire time. Looks like fun but I'm not wild about strategy games so it can wait a little while.

I would put Trauma Center more high, just because it's a lot of fun and uses the touch screen very well, but I have to admit it can be a little frustrating...
I also love Sonic Rush, but I seem to be a minority. Also if you like old-school JRPG there are already a couple of them, being the more obvious choice Final Fantasy III, but I think there will be better ones next year. |

There's a new Phoenix Wright coming out.
Warioware is a whole lot of fun, and if you like puzzle games, try Meteos.

Oh, what's the best way to go about getting one, anyhow? According to http://www.instocker.com/nintendo_ds_lite/ it just doesn't even exist in American stores for the time being. When do new shipments come in and all that kinda crap? Am I gonna have to wait around in lines for this thing?

I work at a store that shall remain un-named. Assuming you live in the US, I could let you know when we have them in stock and hook you up before they hit the sales floor. |

Well I decided to buy a few games while they were used:
Advance Wars: Dual Strike - 17.99 Trace Memory - $14.99 -minus the 10% for the EDGE card. Elite Beat Agents - $34.99 new, for the hell of it I also asked an EB clerk when the hell DS Lites will make another appearance in America and apparently they're "wondering the same thing. We think Nintendo will be shipping some in at the end of January or early February." What the fuck.
