Track 4 is "Nearly Civilized" by Esthero from 007:Nightfire

Track 6 is "Ashford Abbey" from Guild Wars

...or at least those are my guesses.

Very good. Track #4 is indeed the extended theme from Nightfire, and #6 is indeed what my audio CD describes as "Ashfor [sic] Abbey".

#1 - Broken Sword II (End Theme)
#2 - Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth ("Dreams of the Future" Cutscene)
#3 - Sid Meier's Pirates! (One of the "Leaving Port" tracks)
#4 - James Bond 007: Nightfire (Extended Theme)
#5
#6 - Guild Wars ("Ashford Abbey")
#7
#8
#9 - Outlaws ("The Ballad of Dr Death")
#10 - Discworld 2 ("That's Death")
#11

Okay, then... #5 and #8 are both sports games. And #7 is a classic DOS game that spawned a sequel, and is very French.

And, with that, you have clues for everything.

I was talking complete garbage here. It's not a limitation due to sample rate, gravis ultrasound emulation sounds nothing like soundblaster emulation. But oddly enough it sort of sounds worse most of the time, probably because the midis were tweaked for soundblasters.

Audacity seems to have trouble upsampling cleanly from 22khz to 44khz, at least with any resampling option other than "linear interpolator"(and I'm not sure about that one).

Parts of number 7 remind me of Little Big Adventure, while parts of it don't. Whatever it is, I'm fairly sure it's something I've played.

Number 7 reminds me of Alone in the Dark, but I can't find any music that matches it exactly.

It is indeed Little Big Adventure (or Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure if you have an American edition. Like me, for some reason ). I can't remember exactly where it's from; I just ripped it from the CD Audio tracks.

And I suppose that makes Alone in the Dark close to being right. Same designers.

Having well and truly killed this thread, I suppose I should reveal the other games

#5 was rather cruel of me. It's from Virtua Tennis, and is the music that plays when you're on the England stage.

#8 - the one for the English - is from Brian Lara International Cricket 2005. I wasn't expecting anyone to get that one right .

#11 - I'm surprised that nobody got this. It's the music that plays in the main menu of Star Wars: Republic Commando. It's also one of my favourite pieces of game music, because I'm a sucker for the style.

On that note, is this thread now actually dead? Does somebody else want to make one of these? Should I knock out another - easier - one? Does anybody even care?

I think it's fun, even though I'm rather hopeless; due in part to the selective collection of games I own.

I'd love to put one of these together, I'm just not sure where I would host the file at...and you should definitely put together another one. I love trying to track (no pun intended) these things down! It makes me feel a little less weird about devoting so much of my CD collection to movie and gaming soundtracks.

Ok, the file downloaded just fine...just make sure to click on the link that fajerkaos posted, don't right click and "save as", cuz it's not going to give you what you want.

I found 8 tracks, is that correct?

If so, then track 6 is At Doom's Gate by Robert Prince.

Nothing else jumps right out at me, so I'll keep listening and thinking.

Thanks for putting one together fajerkaos!

I don't recognise any of them except for the one from Doom, I'm afraid.

I'm hoping for a few hints. Are these all PC games? Are any of the games really old? (more then 10+ years) Well, besides Doom of course.
