Melanie mentioned this movie in the book adaptation thread, but I figured that a link to the trailer would be better here instead. Ang Lee is amazing. His range of material is rather astounding. This one is apparently winning all the major prizes at Venice. Ang's films are almost always great so, it's another one I can't wait for.

Brokeback Mountain

EDIT: Ok, maybe not all the major prizes, but some...including the best one, the Golden Lion.

And here's the poster:

Visually there are similarities, but it's not as good as Sleepy Hollow. And I wasn't even a particularly big fan of Sleepy Hollow.

And let's not forget the other Venetian fave: Good Night, And Good Luck. (Best Screenplay, Best Actor, FIPRESCI)!

Now this is a movie that I want to see, Green Street Hooligans.

Elijah Wood sure is picking all the great roles recently.
I also want to see Everything is Illuminated, but I have no idea if that movie, or this Hooligans movie will ever show up in Finland.

I saw a quarter of Brothers Grimm because we walked out. I hate movies set in the past that look like an MTV movie.

Green Street looked cool to me too, but it's getting trounced at rottentomatoes. Bummer.

The cover of that movie reminds me of that one South Park episode where they said that all movies at the Cannes were about gay cowboys and pudding..I think.

New trailer of The Da Vinci Code is out.

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/thedavincicode.html

And then there's A Scanner Darkly, based on a book by Philip K. Dick.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/warner...nnerdarkly/hd/

It looks awesome, but Keanu in the main role...

Everything is Illuminated > Green Street Hooligans

I'm quite sure that Everything is Illuminated is better, I haven't seen it yet, but I have seen GSH.

It's totally absurdistic, Elijah's (and other's, notably Eugene Hutz's) best performance to date.

Miami Vice is looking like it could be good. I saw the teaser recently, and it made me interested in seeing it. Trailers can be misleading, but the director/writer has an alright background.

Well, let's bring this thread back from the grave.

Superman Returns is coming soon in a few weeks, too bad Europe (or at least Finland) will have to wait one extra month before it's released here...

Oh man, the trailers look so hot, hot, hot!

Oh and there's of course also Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Now this is a surprise for 2007, Ratatouille from Pixar. This looks a lot more promising than Cars.

Both those movies look amazing.

I read it as well, and liked it. Before I knew anything about the story, the rotoscoping in the movie didn't particularly interest me, but now having read the book I think it could be a good thing.

I hate to say it, but that plot looks set to be terrible.
