In all seriousness, glad that it all went OK for you. It'd be nice to think that, one day, coming out won't be the big deal that this has been. Still think that day's a long way off though (if it's ever coming at all ) It just burns me up that there are those who's opinion of a person changes, just because of learning something like this.

What I hope is that in time people would learn not to feel so uptight about their sexuality or masculinity or femininity.
Also, these days children are educated more about homosexuality. For example, in Finland it was technically illegal to talk about homosexuality until 1999 - there was a law against "encouraging homosexuality" and it was sometimes interpreted... in strange ways. |

Finland has made some quick progress then, hasn't it. Gays can marry there for a couple of years already, am I right?
Oh, and congrats!

The law had been (almost) "dead" for a long time already, though.
It's not called "marriage" but "rekisteröity parisuhde" ("registered relationship"). Last edited by deadworm222; 11-14-2004 at 04:10 PM. |

Not knowing any homosexual people, I realize now that I have no idea what one is supposed to say to be supportive of a person who just told his brother he's gay. But since everybody else seems to be going with "congratulations," I'll stick with what works. Congratulations, deadworm.

It is the smile of utter, simple, virginal innocence. A smile of eternal purity, of the heart and of the soul. It signifies a state of profoundly untainted serenity and beauteous grace. To use it would be to render the most vile, nefarious, and malicious desires and sentiments utterly and ultimately neutral and vaporous, yet still fecund with the richness of substance.
F#&k you. See what I mean?
