Movies
Hey, I was wondering if you guys could give me any good movie recommendations (not current movies though)? I should probably say before hand that I don't like horror or romance movies, and that I'm not allowed to watch movies that are rated R (And no I don't really want to discuss this.). But other than that, I'm open to anything.

I'd hate to admit but yesterday I saw a kiddie MUSICAL movie called "The Scarecrow" and I enjoyed it...
But since I am a B movie series fan, I can't help you much since they usually rated R or higher... How about some Miyazaki movies? (Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's delivery service....) All the rest of the movies I have or I have watched are horror, martial arts or anime.... Hmm, are Scooby-Doo movies considered horror ones? Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island is one of my favorites! The only Scooby movie with a PG rating... I could help a tad bit more if I knew if R was equal to the UK "15" rating or not...

I don't believe that there is a direct correlation between 'R' and '15'. For example, the Blade movies are rated R in the US, but they got an '18' rating in the UK. I also believe that some movies that get a PG-13 rating in the US have gotten a '15' rating in the UK. If I remember correcty they didn't put the m-tv Council of Elrond on the Uk FOTR:EE because it would have upped the rating, hehe. |

Hmm, the movies I recommend that I've seen most recently and guess is not R rated:
Amélie Monthy Python: The Life of Brian Monsters Inc. North By Northwest Rear Window Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Sleepy Hollow (of course, I'm not sure how the ratings work, so I might be wrong about one or two. )

One of my favorite movies, if not number one: Lawrence of Arabia. If you haven't seen it, please do.

Actually, I recommend you look at this list:
http://www.imdb.com/top_250_films For each movie, under the credits where it says "Certification", it tells you how the movie is rated in some countries. |

R is over 17. I know from personal experience. How old are you now? Wait 'til next tuesday and then present your parents with an ultimatum: Either they let you watch American Beauty, or you're wear a dirty bib everywhere they take you out of protest.

Sorry, Moos-face, most of the films I'd recommend you are rated 'R'. But, off the top of my head:
- Truffaut's Forbidden Games, and The 400 Blows - Most anything by Hitchcock, particularly Vertigo, Rear Window, North by Northwest, Shadow of a Doubt, Rebecca, Suspicion, and most from his London years (before he went to Hollywood), specifically The Lodger, Murder, The Lady Vanishes, and The 39 Steps (which was remade into North by Northwest) - Cocteau's La Belle et la Bete - Chris Marker's La Jetee (which was Terry Gilliam's inspiration for Twelve Monkeys) - Peter Webber's Girl With a Pearl Earring - Patrice Leconte's Monsieur Hire - Jean-Jacques Beineix's Diva - Claude Chabrol's Rien Ne Va Plus (The Swindle) I may post more suggestions soon.

Moos: If you haven't seen Amadeus, do so. It's probably the best PG-rated movie I've ever seen, and it's pretty much a must-see.
