Ghost in the Shell gets a sequel
No, I'm not talking about the TV series. An actual feature-length sequel! Here's some trailers: http://www.innocence-movie.jp/trailer/index.html Batou is back (you can see him in the videos), but not much else is known. It's being directed again by Mamoru Oshii and the music is again by Kenji Kawai. CGI is more prominently featured, as could be expected. The first trailer I just saw has a couple of examples of CGI being mixed in perfectly, and one rather unfortunate example of CGI looking all plasticy and out of place. But, pfft, sorry, I didn't mean to talk about that. All I want to say is: |

That's great! I really like the original one, especially the "quiet scenes" with that eerie music...

Hmm, I wonder if it will have anything to do with the sequel to the comic?
If so, then maybe Makoto Kusanagi IS in the movie, but you haven't recognized her yet? Spoiler: But my guess is that this happens AFTER the 2nd comic series.... Look at how old Batou looks!

I am trying not to get excited about this. I will just set myself up for disappointment. I was actually such an extreme otaku at one point in my life, that I hopped on a plane by myself and flew out to see the North American Premiere of Ghost in the Shell. Nothing like spending several hundred dollars just to see a movie.
I have completely come to my senses since then though. A lot of the more modern anime is crap. Although the theatrical films are still usually decent... And just about anything by Oshii is good... |

The only anime that I really got into was this awesome show made in the 80s called Robotech. I used to love that show when I was a kid.
Unfortunately I haven't seen or heard about this Ghost in the Shell. It's very good I guess? |

Marek, that is old news I learned about Innocence on several public forums half a year ago ^_^
But I hadn't seen that poster yet. It's pretty I agree, Oshii is a great director/moviemaker. I just love Patlabor 2 ^_^
