what music?
So what does everyone listen to?
As for me... I've already mentioned K's Choice, Tenacious D and Tarantino music. The only Tarantino soundtrack I don't own is Jackie Brown. Dunno, might buy it if I come across it sometime... although I can't really remember the music from the film, so I'm not sure if it was really that memorable. All the other ones are brilliant anyway! I'm pretty much open to any style of music that's not techno or dance. Among other things, I listen to Blöf (a Dutch band), Dropkick Murphys (punk meets Irish folk), Eminem, Evanesence, Everclear, Fat Boy Slim, Garbage, Jimmy Eat World, Laura Pausini, Manu Chao, Marilyn Manson, Nelly Furtado, Rammstein (the Mutter album), Spooks, The Hives, U2 and some of Vanessa Carlton's songs. I really don't like most of Manson's stuff but one particular album (The Golden Age of Grotesque I believe it's called) I thought was good. Eminem I think is a genius... but I can't stand listening to "Kim". Perhaps I haven't been desensitized enough? A special note on Shakira... In my opinion, she can't write, but she makes good music, so as long as it's in Spanish and I can't understand a word, I like it! ("Te Aviso Te Anuncio" and "Te Dejo Madrid" are cool for example) Then there's also a bunch of random pop and guitar songs I like ranging from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Pure Shores". I also have kind of a love/hate relationship with hip-hop and R&B... some songs/raps I really like - for example "Sista Sista" (Beverly Knight) and some of Busta Rhymes tracks - but I absolutely can't stand rappers like Sean Paul or 50 cent. |

Ooh, this is fun.
Weeell, let's see. At the moment, I'm mostly listening to (prog-)rock from the 70's. Pink Floyd, Gene Clark, John Cale, Camel, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Love, Van Morrison, The Doors, Kign Crimson, Bo Hansson, The Moody Blues, Nick Drake... all friggin' great stuff. Oh, and there's Supersister, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Kaleidoscope, Sagittarius, Spirit, The Move, Wigwam, Yume Bitsu, Eloy, Wind, Jade Warrior.. Of course, Ani DiFranco, as always. She released a new album the 20th of january. It's not that good compared to her other stuff, but it's still kick-ass compared to other stuff. Other random stuff I like atm: The Postal Service, The Shins, Shaolin Soul vol. 2 (the greatest fucking soul album ever!) etc.

I can listen to pretty much everything as long as there's someone singing (which means no rap and no techno), and preferably "real" instruments (instead of computers, that is). Which means that most artists I like are in a genre which contains the word rock.

I listen to Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Bartok, Mahler, Bach, Beethoven and a lot of others.
I also listen to Cornelis Vreeswijk, Alf Hambe and more humorous stuff like Povel Ramel, Hasse & Tage, Galenskaparna & After Shave and Monty Python. Some Jazz and Blues can fit into my music agenda too and Beatles. Plus probably lot of other things.

I like Dropkick Murphys and Rammstein too.
My favourite type of music is metal, punk, rock, folk and classical music. The music I rate as the best is folk music mixed with some form of rockmusic.

I don't listen to classical music much but I do like it. Only (mostly) classical CD I have is the Gladiator soundtrack but I do have a few mp3's with stuff ranging from Bach to Beethoven... I love the Lucas Arts "Best Of" soundtrack but I wish I had the whole Grim Fandango CD. I also really like the music on Outcast. That desert track is my favourite. Genres always confuse me, but Cornelis Vreeswijk, that's Jazz isn't it? I've heard some of his songs... pretty nice. |

Ultra Bra (the collection. hey, I'm a poor student, no money to buy whole albums, and the library collection is crap) U-Street all stars: Helsinki sessions (I've been listening to this record for a year now. Kick-ass hard-bop!) My own recordings ("Kellalan äänen juhlakonsertti")

Hey, cut me some slack! I'm actually a filthy stinking rich capitalist, but still I've got no money. I'm not saving, but... it's a lifestyle, I guess. Besides, I have been unsuccesful in finding them, probably have to buy them online one day. But the time has to be right.
And then there's the 25 other CD's I'd still rather have than any UB stuff... * * * One more thing: I remember I listed the Ultra Bra CD the last time we had this list. It was two years ago. I don't get bored of that CD. The most important thing about music is that you can listen to it over and over again without becoming bored. Another CD is the Clockwork one. I always find new things from that record.

My music likes cover too great a spectrum to name specific groiups or styles nowadays. I think I've become more open minded in my latter years. I'd be better off saying what I don't like, but I'm not going to do that.
Anyway, if I was going to base it on my vinyl and cd collections then I'd have to say that over the years my favourites have been: Pink Floyd Depeche Mode New Model Army The Clash The Levellers Metallica The Jam The Smiths Bauhaus Simon and Garfunkel Led Zeppelin Guns 'n Roses The Damned Coldplay Lynyrd Skynyrd The Mission Black Sabbath U2 The Wonder Stuff The Corrs (the sisters are all hot! Plus they're extremely good live - I also have 2 DVD's of them) Anyway. that's just the ones that I have more than one album or 12" of (Depeche Mode made some exceptional 12" singles - unfortrunately I only have them all on vinyl back at my parents in the UK ).
