You didn't get a very good set of answers to the questions before, and I though they were interesting, so I'm reposting them.

1- Have you ever worked with someone you though might come in shooting someday?
2- Do you think creating an asteroid/satellite defense system is important?
3- Does it bum you that you most likely won't be visiting other planets?

1. I don't think so, but if I did, I'd like to think we would've been good friends.
2. You mean, a defence system out of asteroids and/or satellites? Now that I think of it, that would be kind of cool.
3. Well, yeah, but I came to terms with it a long time ago, so it's not as bad as, say, being bummed upon finding out that I can't make games for a living.

1. Why bother posting in this thread if you can't think of good answers to the questions?
2. Why bother posting in this thread if you can't think of good questions to ask?
3. Why bother, period?

1. Maybe you just want to feel connected to other people, and this is a way to feel that.
2. Perhaps you really want to answer the questions because you feel your answers will supply other posters with valuable insight into your personality, or your answers are hilarious sarcastic jokes obviously answering questions in a way the original poster didn't intend for them to be answered.
3. (I could go into a long philosophical tirade here, but instead I'll take a page from your playbook, my friend.) Because bothering people is funny for the person doing the bothering.

Just as a little aside here, tsa's questions made me wonder something, and this thread is probably the best place to pose the question. I have a strong dislike for public oration, but when called upon to do it, I'd far rather do it in front of a large audience than a small one. If somebody told me to get on stage in a stadium and read something, I'd be far more comfortable doing so, than giving the same talk to a room filled with 15 people, just because it's so much less personal. Does anyone else feel like this? (Oh, and I'd probably still have a stiff drink before doing either. )

1. I have several, but if I smell the same one too often, I usually get sick of it.
2. I have several, but if I wear the same one too often, I usually get sick of it.
3. Generally, I prefer sandwiches of the hot and/or toasted variety, but beyond that, it depends what I feel like eating.

P.S. Jatsie, I don't think I have that problem per se, unless all 15 people were of the sort that I'd generally feel anxious around. I can see the advantage in having a huge crowd then, because you'd likely have a broader range of personalities. But then, I don't have all that many problems with public speaking, period.

1. Which would you enjoy more (or hate less, as the case may be): giving a speech, or starring in a play? Assume that your audiences in each case are the same size.
2. Same situation as above, but now the choice is between giving a speech and casually socialising at a party.
3. What kinds of personalities are you generally most uncomfortable approaching for the first time?

I have to give a talk next friday; that's why I asked those questions. Both large and small audiences have their merits. In a small audience you can expect more detailed questions to which you can give longer answers. That can be fun because of the extra interaction. In a large audience it's an unwritten rule that you can't ask questions that are too detailed, because the speaker has to be able to answer questions from other members of the audience. So large audiences are less personal indeed than small ones. I like giving talks (although I don't go around looking for opportunities to give them), and I like preparing for them too. I usually run through the talk a few times on my own, at home, until I'm familiar with all the sheets. I don't like to rehearse too much because then all spontaneity is lost.

1. Starring in a play, though I can't properly explain why.
2. I think this depends on who else is at the party. I'm nothing short of abysmal at casually socialising with strangers, so I'd take the speech any day.
3. I'm uncomfortable approaching almost anyone for the first time (yay). Particularly the loud, outgoing types, though.

1. Starring in a play... but alongside people who I know and can definitely trust.
2. Casually socialising. The lesser of two difficulties.
3. Anyone who I really, really, really want to like me.

1. I'd rather give the talk. I can't impersonate.

2. Difficult... I think the latter although I am a bit shy

3. People who are full of themselves.

1. You just have to cross the canal. All you have is a pick-up truck full of wood. There isn't enough wood to build a bridge though. And you HAVE to cross the canal, which is about 30 m wide. What would you do?

2. You find yourself at the other side of the canal. Why did you have to cross it so badly?

3. Which side of the canal do you like better, now you've seen both?

1. If all I have is a pick-up truck full of wood, and using that wood to build a bridge would be acceptable were I to have enough of it, then clearly the wood isn't important. So I'd dump the truck and swim across. Alternatively, I'd travel along the side of the canal to a narrower section.
2. The grass is always greener on the other side.
3. Whichever side I'm not on (see question 2). Or, alternatively, the side that I was on to start with, since I've left a perfectly good pick-up truck full of wood there.

1. That would be this winter, although I did catch a strange variety of other ailments, which weren't particularly pleasant.
2. Never, I'm the practical kind. I realized that with the help of police and various powers that be, I'd never have a chance of getting anywhere, and besides, I didn't have enough money.
3. That would depend entirely on the definition of this particular use of the word "event".

2. A simpler life, being a small town in the country.
3. If I were a girl, beauty, because you could use it to get all sorts of things. I would be a terrible girl. It's probably better I'm not. As a guy, brains, because they're useful. Though brainsWisdom > brainsIntelligence in my opinion.
