My el cheapo car stereo broke down after 7 years, so I bought a neat new one:

It has CD, MP3, WMA, USB and even SD, and it cost only 59 euros!

Furthermore I bought new earbuds for my MP3 player for only 1.65 euro at Hema. They even sound OK! Amazing.

Loads more HD DVDs, and a smattering of Blu-Rays.

Dark City is one nice film .

Not a splurge yet, but a prospective splurge if the price is right and all the stars align: an '88-'91 Ford Crown Victoria LX (all four of those years are visually identical), navy blue inside and out. A local thrift store has one that whistled me down as I passed by this morning, and except for a dislocated center armrest (a common occurrence on these as they age, and easily fixed) and a broken sun visor it appears to be in decent and unmolested shape.

It looks like the navy blue car on the right in this photo-

Cool! Do you plan on repainting it? Will it be an everyday kind of car or a cruisin' car on a nice day?

Oh no, I'm quite a fan of navy blue on cars. To me, navy blue is nicely conservative without being pretentiously and artificially somber like black is. In fact, the only color I'd prefer over navy blue on a car is pale yellow... not because I'm particularly wild about pale yellow, but because it doesn't show the tree pollen here in the springtime.

Every other day, and rainy days in particular. Sadly, my station wagon can't run forever.

That's a very elegant and imo "american-looking" car Sage.

Last summer we had to get another car into the household and when Mr J told me he had found a used, but still nice "birdy-yellow" (probably not an English expression, but you get the point) Seat, I said go for it!

Now everybody around here, especially my students can tell when I drive past.

I bought a plush Armadillo. And named him Gustav. ^_^ (There's really no other name you can give an Armadillo, I think, at least in German. It just sounds so nice. "Gustav das Gürteltier". ^_^ )

Photos later, once I've found the camera.

Well... today I went out after work and got myself one of these, finally.

Too bad I don't have any games for it yet, I do have some GC games, but no controller for those yet.

You should at least have Wiisports. It comes in the box.

Bowling and Tennis are good fun.

Yeah, it does come with Wii Sports, but it's kind of boring to play that alone which I am still for now in my apartment...

But I connected with the net and got Megaman 9 from the Wiiware shop. I would get World of Goo also but I already bought that in January for PC so I don't need it twice.

Megaman 9 is really hard game...

Thankfully it's starting to seem so.
Throat doesn't hurt and nose is not running so much anymore, also there is no fever.

Today's spending splurge is a white official Gamecube controller.

With my 360 dead, I've decided to undertake the task of building a gaming computer from the ground up. The first part I've gotten is a GeForce 9800 GTX. Now I'm hunting for an inexpensive compatible ATX motherboard, an Intel Quad Core processor, a case, and a PSU. Everything else will come later.

Me and my brother were never much into Playmobil; we were much into Lego. Are you going to have the castle attacked by your scary pluche monsters once you get it Jaz?

That, or I'll have it raided by my crew of Viking Nuns*.

*Great Britain's response to Viking raids on monasteries. Also, the only ferry service over Shark-Nun infected waters.

That would go very nicely in the computer I just splurged on. I've gone for some slight future proofing, so there's a Core i7 processor for me, but the trade-off is expense and a rubbish graphics card for now .

I'm in the same sort of dilemma. I'm going to have trouble finding the type of processor I need for under $250, which is way over the budget. I may have to hold off for a while on that particular part.
