To me 89 F is "the heat".
I've only experienced 100 F/38 C once in Spain /Mallorca. I had a hard time coping. Luckily we had air conditioning in the hotel room.

It get well over 100 here, in the summer. And then you've got the incredible humidity. It's torture for a northerner, let me tell you.

This has been sucky day all round and now I'm stuck in the office late as the connection to our remote server upgrade fails to happen (some sort of technical problem per the computer bod tapping away opposite me)

Ugh!

"Sniff sniff..."

And so, if anyone here had been wondering, I've spent the entire past week with the flu. I've lurked the forums, posted a bit here and there, but most of the time it's been a surreal blur. That I received a vaccine last November to help me out was a huge joke, just goes to prove the best prevention is a hazmat suit and a hermitically sealed life.

I'm finally over the bug today, slept in all morning, and am now sipping a hot coffee, trying to come back from the dead. Looks like I've lost a bit of weight once more (from refusing to eat anything more than chicken broth and sliced oranges) so, once more, looks like I gotta eat like a monster to gain it back, and I can't even force an appetite.

me getting over the flu

Aw, thanks, guys!

I'm eating beefsteak and steamed rice to help get strength again. My cool new friend N in San Diego emailed me back and made me feel even better. I really now plan on going down there for a weekend to hang with him and see the city (it's just $62 roundtrip on the train!). He's a wise puppy.

Jatsie, sorry about your sicky-poo, too. Hope you're getting better. I'll send you a Hoops & Yoyo e-card.

Trep...might want to pop some probiotic supplements...they really do help support digestion after lengthy illness...also, when you can, get yourself a full body aromatherapy massage.

I've noticed you were absent. And as always when you are, I missed you.
I'm glad to hear you're getting better. Take your time to get your strength back. Feeling OK in the heart of your home may not be the same as being able to go outside just yet. I've done the mistake of going to work too soon a couple of times. No good...

Here. Enjoy some cinnamon rolls together with that chai tea. If you eat enough of them you'll gain some weight, I promise.

I had the flu recently. It was torture. I felt like someone had stuffed my nose and mouth full of gravy and shoved me in the oven to roast slowly. So I do sympathise, Trep.

I'm glad you're starting to feel better.

Did your grandmother pass on, Kolzsie? My deepest sympathy, then. I'm sure she was quite a woman of substance that it affects you profoundly. As I always say during times like this, you and family have been blessed with such an exquisite soul as she, so in her passing I think she probably also wanted you to feel a bit of celebration - for you in her life, and for her in your life.

That reminds me, this weekend will the be one year anniversary of my Dad's passing, which will be one month after I had moved here from Oregon to, ironically, help Nanay take care of him. I have a sneaky suspicion he planned it that way so that it would be Nanay who I'll take care, as he himself knew it was time to bow out after accomplishing so much in his life. So all three of my sisters will be coming here to visit, and two of my brothers. And of course, a few of my nieces and nephews. It's gonna be fun, remembrance through good times.
