Cat person? Dog person? Or both?
Before I go and be productive, I'll give you this question:
Do you prefer dogs or cats or can you be happy with both (and I think I know how Colpet will answer )? It was inspired by reading this article, A Dog Man Gets A Cat. I always thought of myself as a dog person, having had one for almost 12 years now. I would have never purposely gone out and gotten a cat but I got a couple of cats who were dumped about 4 years ago and while I don't understand everything they do, I like them. Discuss away! |

I'm a cat person. I don't like dogs and they don't like me.

I love cats and dogs. I think I love dosg more because cats aren't that cute when they grow up, while a dog will love you forever not when it needs food.

I prefer dogs.
Right, with that out of the way, I might add that I like Kinkajus. They are fun animals. However I'm not sure I like them being kept as pets. And with that out of the way too, I can get back to the thread's subject. I have to say what Dasilva said (well, not say it but agree to it) and also that dogs are more active with you. That's the very short version. Long version probably not coming. |

A cat isn't cute when grown up? I find grown up cats to be extremely cute, even though not so cute as a kitten.
I'm definitely a cat person. I don't like dogs at all, and they don't like me. Whenever I'm with someone who owns dogs, I pat them and stuff, but I really don't feel any affection for them. And I think they smell. I just prefer the character, looks and behaviour of a cat. I also appreciate the fact that they don't require as much care as a dog. You just give them food and fresh water, and that's it. They don't need anything else. You don't even need a litter box when they have a cat door. Last edited by Phantom; 01-16-2006 at 09:37 AM. |

I like both, but I think I'm more of a dog person. I've only had two dogs in my life.

Part of the reason I'm a cat person is the independence they afford. I suffer from regular migraines, and I often zone out for days at a time. You just don't have that freedom with a dog. (Also one of the many reasons why I never wanted children).
I always had cats around me, from my earliest memories to my present day group of 7 . I love their attitudes, their behavior, and their companionship (when they deem it ). Even when some of my feline patients are hard to get along with (AKA nasty), I have to chuckle at their determination. I have 2 dogs that I love to pieces, but I just don't connect with them the same way I do with cats. Regarding the article, I have quite a few 'dog' people that are surprised when they live with their first cat. Inevitably their preconceptions fall by the wayside and despite themselves, they warm up to the new addition. Some even 'change teams' !

Originaly I was strictly a dog person, but I grew to like cats...
I could live with both and will probably get one of each when im older but ill always preffer dogs since their more playfull and not as snootish as cats Also I dont think cats really like getting big hugs....well come to think of it neither does my dog but hes too slow to avoid them

Cats have grown on me as well. I wouldn't like having a dog around cause they can smell, and unless they're old and arthritic, they're attention whores.

I´m definitely a dog person. Much due to my Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever called Jaffa!!
She´s stubborn, a real outdoor dog, loves snow. Actually quite a challenge at times. |

The cat itself doesn't. Its bodily functions might.

We have dogs, so I guess we're dog people.
However, someday I would like to have a cat, but that won't be possible before I have my own place, because my mother says she'll never get a cat. A friend of mine had two cats, one of which was a Man-Cat (she liked men more than woman). However, she also liked me, so I guess she was a Man-Cat and a Geek/Jazhara-Cat. -

Oh, and um..... I am very passionately into pussies. I LOVE pussies, I love to stroke them, cuddle them, nuzzle them!! Sadly, however, I haven't had a pussy in years. I bought myself one years and years ago, and it was such an awesome pussy. Awwwww!!! It was perfect for me, we got along so wickedly. It was a wicked pussy. Sometimes when I would walk into a room it would wait around the corner and then pounce me. There's nothing more fun than a pouncing pussy. But......my pouncing pussy died on me when I was living in Los Angeles. That pussy was only five years old. I was so depressed. It got very sick and it died. So what I did, I had my pussy cremated and I scattered the ashes under a fountain of a spiritual garden in Malibu, where it would eventually stream into the Pacific Ocean. That was such a beautiful yet profoundly poignant day for me. Malibu is a lovely area, so it was what it was: a pussy with a view. *sigh* I miss my pussy sometimes. I'm not sure when I'll get a pussy again. Maybe in San Francisco. I heard San Francisco pussies are good to have. Dogs are okay. I love dogs, too, but I prefer pussies overall. I love all kinds of animals!!! < gazes affectionately at squaresie > Yep. All kinds of animals.
