Score: 96%
Avg Error: 6 miles
Time: 289 seconds

(I was a bit off with Iowa and Nebraska early on, since there weren't any bordering states, so I had to eyeball it!)

Yes Ma'am, you have indeed!
I could with confidence place Finland, France, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the various parts of Great Britain, but beyond those I'm screwed.

Well being able to tell Sweden and Switzerland apart is rare for an American.

j/k

You'll probably put Iceland, Russia, Greece and Cyprus in the correct places as well.

From what I've seen, you're quite correct despite the fact that they're ENTIRELY differently countries and not even close to each other in any geographical sense.

Now if I happened to, say, escape a kidnap attempt and didn't know where I was I'd probably have a very hard time distinguishing between Southern Germany and Switzerland, but I'm sure that one quick look around and two words spoken by a local would let me know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I wasn't in Sweden.

The first three, yes... Cyprus, I'm not so sure.

I think what makes people mix Sweden and Switzerland up (And I've met those who did! Not in Europe, but in the US while talking about Europe and Sweden.) is the fact that both countries start with an S and there are mountains with snow in both countries. Not that our mountains look at all like the alps, but I guess that's what makes the confusion.

BTW, this game reminds me of the final round in the old Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? TV show on PBS. The contestant had to place eight beacon lights on the correct states/countries within 60 seconds to win the grand prize. The announced location would be one of the following: The US, South America, Europe, Asia or Africa. I don't think any kid who got Africa ever won the prize. Along with easier countries like Egypt, South Africa or Morocco, they'd get other places like Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Malawi or Swaziland!

My kids had that PC game of Where in the World is Carmen San Diego. They also had a Where in time is Carmen San Diego. They learned a lot from them.

And that game would eat me alive if it were European. All those Baltic States and stuff would quickly kick my booty.

Hammerite-haha Thanks. That makes me feel a little better. But you think I would have done better at my own country.

rlpw-OMG!!! I had this awesome game, "Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego". It was awesome. It would give facts about a certains tate, and you'd try to place which state it was. It was awesome, I wish I could get it to work on my computer again. But no luck. Darn. lol
