Do you have a more complete list? There are lots and lots of adventure games... do you have some kind of metric for including or excluding games from the list?

Re: Riven, I licked it in the days before we had internet access, so it can be done. Pencil and paper are a definite help.

completed Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror, I'd like to say it was lots of fun but to be honest it wasn't, it had none of the humour, plot, likeable characters that the first one had, it just felt like it was dragging on and on, like a 3 hour film of paint drying.

It's not a game i will ever be in a hurry to play again.

@Ugignadi - The list is basically all commercially available adventure games, and by that i mean things from proper publishing/software houses, no third party made in your bedroom PD games.

Mainly Games such as

Broken Sword series
Beneath a steel sky
Monkey Island series
Kings/Space/Police quest series
Flight of the amazon queen
future wars
curse of enchantia
legend of kyrandia
lure of the temptress
indiana jones last crusade/fate of atlantis
simon the sorcerer 1-4 (and 5 when it's released on 31/07/2009 (already preordered)
Still life
secret files
manhunter series
colonels bequest, if i can ever actually find a copy of it anywhere
Cruise for a corpse
Sherlock holmes series
Syberia

and so on, it is a fairly big undertaking but not an impossible task

I will try and focus on games i have never ever played before first and then replay ones ive played before later on

Also it would be nice if the subscription thing on the forum listened to my settings and actually emailed me when there was a new reply, instead it doesn't

I purchased a copy of colonel's bequest when it first became available... is it not available anymore? seems like only a alittle while ago but guess it was ~20 years .

are we allowed to exchange things that aren't available for purchase?

that would be one of those technical grey areas i think lol, depends if anyone holds the copyright still i guess, if not you should be able to freely send , but i would guess, as old as it is, it's still under copyright, course i imagine the p2p networks might see it differently, but they dont exactly have an official leg to stand on hah

uh simon the sorcered 4 was a chore to get working, firstly in the uk its published by playlogic (never a good sign)

Anyway it installed but then the security check on loading said i didnt have the original disc inserted, even though i did.

i reinstalled, then ti said some other error, followed by not the original disc inserted.

So i emailed the company..... still no reply.

Emailed the place i bought it from for a replacement "oh we are going to be condescending and treat you like an idiot who knows nothing about computers while we are the overlords of the digital universe".

after about 3 days of battling against there insistance that nothing they sell could ever EVER be broken, i got a no dvd patch and sure enough then the game worked perfectly fine.... despite the fact they said its not the disc..... uh huh.... right, anyway the idiots will be getting a strong worded letter.

i hope you realize just how MANY adventure games there really are dude. your list doesn't even cover a fraction of the total. i thought i pretty much knew them all until i read through sites like home of the underdogs and abandonware and THIS one.

for some reason i feel compelled to recommend Beavis & Butthead. It's actually a great adventure game, that totally passed under my radar when it first came out.

Hehehehe, yeah good luck with playing every proper adventure game ever developed/published. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of them going back say 18 years. Plus, if you ignore all the indie adventure games out there then you will be missing out on a number of gems. A few websites I like to browse through that have a comprehensive list of adventure games are

http://www.a-for-adventure.com/

http://www.adventure-archiv.com/

http://www.mobygames.com/home

http://www.pagodagamedatabase.com/

thanks for the recommendations lakerz

I'm mainly going to attempt to play every mainstream adventure game classic first, then the lesser classics, then any of the indie ones i can get hold of, due to the economic crisis i have more free time lol
