EDIT: I've given #5 some more thought. It doesn't really ring a bell, BUT since all the other tracks are either Sierra or LucasArts (except maybe #20, but it's at least LEC-inspired), I'm going to assume that this one is too. Now, the only Sierra games I can think of with an Arabian setting are Camelot and QfG2, and this is neither of them. LucasArts haven't really used such a setting, except... in Zak McKracken (Cairo)! So I'm going to guess that it's from the FM-Towns version of Zak. I'll have to go and check.

(This is fun!)

EDIT2: I - WAS - RIGHT! (about Zak) Woohoo! Wow, that made my day! Remembering is fun, but getting stuck on a problem, thinking about it for a while, coming up with a complicated reasoning, and finally checking that it's right feels so much better. Come to think of it, that's mostly why I play adventure games. Or did, anyway, as it's been far too long since a game has made me feel that sort of elation.
#20--it's from an MI2 demo all right. But there's a specific location in the game that it comes from, and I'll need you to guess that before it's truly solved.

And congratulations on locating the Zak FM Towns tune. That took some detective work.

Did some more detective work, as I remembered reading about the unused material from the MI2 demo, and (TADA!) found that #20 was an early tune used for the Phatt Island wharf (and look who's the thread starter ).

Exactly right. (I recall hearing that a couple of other people had found the play-the-demo-with-ScummVM trick before I did, but nobody had actually made the discovery public knowledge.)

I actually like the demo Phatt Island tune better than the one we got in the finished MI2. I guess I'm just crazy that way.

Well, this thing is almost finished, so do you want to bring out your answers for the remaining tracks?

I kinda do too. So that makes two crazy people here. (well, from your choice of tracks for the medley, we seem to have not too different tastes, so maybe it makes sense)

Since no-one else is posting, I guess I might be vain and post the remaining ones. (I hope I don't get any wrong, or I'm going to look like a complete idiot)

So, my guesses:

03. SQ3, The black bole (end sequence)
09. EMI, The lawyers on Lucre Island (one of the few tracks from the game that stuck in my mind)
14. MI2, Rum Rogers
16. GK, Wolfgang's library

You got one wrong. The EMI tune isn't the lawyers.

By the way, I find EMI a very uneven game musically. The cutscenes and Lucre Island were excellent, and Melee was pretty good. Jambalaya was just okay (with the exception of the awesome dynamic map music) and nearly everything from Act III onward made my ears bleed. Shows what you get for outsourcing music for half the game.

Damn! I wasn't sure about it, and I had actually checked by listening to the track, and the tune was the same.

*listens to it again*

Yup, the tune is the same, but the orchestration is slightly different. It's probably the prostheses shop, then.

*sighs* I knew #3 and #16 sounded familiar...

I'd do a medley, but all the games I have music for have been done to death already.

Peace & Luv, Liz

I'm in the process of completing a game music medley...
While I finish it, is there someone who could address me to a website where I could upload it to? Thanks!

Ladies and gentlemen, the mix is completed! There are 25 songs: most of them are quite easy IMHO, but a few might be a bit tricky.

I'm not very experienced in using music editors, so don't expect a very good quality file like the ones posted earlier by Kurufinwe and ATMachine. I even noticed that maybe some tracks are too long and others are too short... oh well, it's all part of the game!

As usual, the game name and the corresponding event/location are requested for every track. I just hope I will be able to give you hints (if needed) without revealing too much...

The file has been uploaded on YouSendIt and it will be available for 7 days, I think it should be enough time.

Let's kick off!

THE FILE

One word: Ouch!

It's hard. Very hard. There are only 14 I more or less recognize.

I'll just make a few guesses for the moment:

#2 is from Kyrandia 3. I think it's the fish cream parlour.
#5 has to be from MOS, but I've no idea where.
#11 is from Myst III or IV, but I can't quite place it (it mixes Catherine's theme from Riven with music from Atrus's study in Myst III...).
#15 is probably the pub from BS1.
I know #17!!!! I just can't put my finger on it. Damn.
#22 is the end of Spire, Myst IV. Which means #11 is probably from Myst III.
#24 is the checkmate from Overseer (unforgettable sequence)
#25 is the Sanitarium end credits (in full, it seems)

There are a few more I've recognized (I think), but I'll stop there for now.

And #17 bugs me!!!!!!

Yes, I've just clocked up my first total failure to recognise any game whatsoever. I still enjoyed the experience, though. Kind of. :~

Didn't think it was so difficult! I'm good then.

It is.

It is indeed The Moment Of Silence. As for the where, the answer might be the most obvious one.

LOL, that was supposed to be one of the tricky songs. It is indeed a pub, but not the one from BS1!

Recent game, already appeared in previous medleys...

Exactly. Right about #11 too, it's Atrus' Study theme from Myst III.

I porbably got the numbers wrong, but I'll try:

1- Ankh - the theme song, I think
4 - Post Mortem - The Alambic Bistro
5 - I think it's from the main street under Peter's apartment in MOS.
7 - Fable - opening
8 - Journeyman Project 3 - I think it's called Gage's theme?
17 - maybe Voyage?
21 - simon the sorcerer 1?
