Well Jon asked for a hard one, and if the side bar questions your theory then your theory is probably wrong as that side bar is crucial to the game and is throughout the game.

Being that those probably wouldnt help you. My hint will be that this game was originally released in Japanese (and only). This is a translation however. By a group.
