Default About the game world...

Hi,

Obviously the new game is set in Victorian England, specifically London. As frogwares is not based in London (and it's no longer the Victorian era ) it must have been a challenge to capture the atmosphere of victorian London, and to make it feel authentic and engrossing for the game.

So my question is basically what sort of London did you aim for and how did you achieve it? I mean in terms of graphical style, the atmosphere, the settings and the characters. What did you base your scenes and locations on? Is the setting based around historical research for an authentic view, or based on the writings of Conan Doyle for a Sherlock Holmes style London, or somewhere in between? And were there any locations you had to rework because they didn't fit into the world you were trying to create?

As you know London as Paris still have many elements of architecture of the victorian ear, living in Kiev I can tell you that here there is almost no buildings from the past. so it was not so complex to recreate the streets and and the sets.

then the movies of the late 40 years are also helpful for the interiors, the private life of Sherlock Holmes, the hound of the Baskervilles, the TV show with Jeremy Brett are bringing many elements for the study.

Sherringford hall is a former hall, transformed into an hospital in East Putney.

Baker street is baker street, spite the 221b was not existing in Sherlock Holmes time.

we didn't had to rework any place in particular as they were in the story already and adapted to victorian england.

Wow I didn't realise you'd based some locations on their real life counterparts, thats great to read. And it's really good that youve drawn inspiration no just from the books but other peoples ideas of victorian london from films, tv etc. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks for a great answer
