Broken Sword Angel of Death - New Problems!
Hi there adventuregamers
I've scoured the net and have read lots of problems people have had with this game but my problem doesnt seem to come up so I was wondering if any clever clogs could help me please! So I've got Broke Sword Angel of Death.. loaded it on my older laptop (Dell Inspiron 1300 XP) first of all it wouldn't load so I downloaded the patch and now it will load fine but when I get to the menu parts of the graphics are just white squares, most of the screen is fine its just part of the angel thing and the torch flames that are just big white squares. When I play the intro bit it starts off fine but then when George comes into it I can hear him fine but the screen is either pitch black or all white at times. I really hope someone can help because I've been waiting so long to play this game! Thanks Katexxx |

Do you have the minimum system requirements?
Are you running 16 bit by any chance? If so change to 32... ...and try different settings of your video card.. Also, the squares, sound to me like a graphic card issue... Broken Sword 4 needs shader model 2.0. That means pixel shaders. Pixel shaders are something that comes along with your graphic card. Your graphic card may not have pixel shader support, or have a lower version, like 1.1 or 1.4... Can you post your specs? |

its a known fact that BS4 will not work on multicore core pcs.
Is your machine multicore. if so do the following, win 7 at the start type msconfig & enter. click on boot, advance settings, at number of processors tick & then select 1, apply & restart machine. to undo this just go back in & remove the tick & restart. under xp you will have to change it in the bios I just looked at your specs for your laptop, your machine will not play this game Last edited by plumgas; 10-21-2011 at 03:35 PM. |

Hi!
We are currently investigating a method that will allow people who have issues with silhouetted characters to play the disc version of the game, it would be fantastic if you could try this and let us know how it works for you. - Install the update v1.1 from our website. http://revolution.co.uk/bs4_g/BS4_Patch_1.1.zip - Unzip 'BS4_Patch_1.1.zip' and run the file named 'BS4 Patch_1.1.exe'. This will update your game data to the necessary version. - Download and unzip the following file from our website, this file contains a replacement 'bs4pc.exe' neccesary to overcome the graphical issues. http://revolution.co.uk/bs4_g/BS4_Replacement_Executable.zip - Copy the replacement 'bs4pc.exe' to the following folder choosing to replace the existing file. C:\Program Files\THQ\Revolution Software Ltd\Broken Sword The Angel of Death Please let me know if you have any difficulty with the process, I will do all I can to assist you. There is a small chance that this process will invalidate previous saved games. Kind regards. Robert Megone |

Thankyou so much!! This patch seems to work great, however it did invalidate my savedgames.
I have the US, Secrets of the Ark version. After I installed the patch (and ran the game) it created a new folder in my documents called "Broken Sword - The Angel of Death" I tried to copy my old savegames over, but the savegames still does not work. It doesn't matter I had just started playing the game, so I wasn't very far. Just to reiterate, the patch fixed the black characters, & broke my savegames. |
