Ok... I have all of those, yet I get a dead black screen that lasts for ~30 seconds when I click on the Faust file. Do you need the CD in the drive? CD #1, I assume?

Thanks VERY much for taking the time to make those pics and the list.

Did you adjust the path in fl.ini?

(cf. what I did for the DVD version in this post)

Yes, but it made no difference. I suspect I know the answer...

as we all know, Vista is super-duper-secure, and resists any program's attempt to do ANYTHING. I suspect that Faust is trying to directly copy from the CD to the TEMP directory without consulting with Vista... Vista goes into beserk "destroy all rogue programs" mode, and creates the error.

I found a ridiculously simple solution. I talked my wife into letting me install it on her XP machine!! Ha HA, Vista, what can do you NOW?! That's what I call "user access control"!!

So I will start in ASAP and try to catch up with the playthrough, if it hasn't ended already.

Default remove smilies

I just got "Faust" ("Seven Games of th Soul") to install in Vista.
Here is what I did:

I used "Faust"s CD-1.

Created on my hard drive a folder named: 7
(It can be anywhere on your drive. I prefer the "User\<username>\Games" folder to put that folder into as you get elevated permissions.)

From the CD, I copied the following files into that "7" folder:
ames.ini
aObj.ini
arxin3.fon
faust16.exe
faust.exe
mmxImage.dll
fl.ini

From the "Faust"s CD-1, I copied the entire "data" folder to my "7" folder.

Now on my hard drive, in the "\7\data" folder, I deleted out the following folders:
"fra"
"ger"
In the "a01s01" folder, delete both the "node" and "pla" folders.
In the "a01s03" folder, delete the "ani", "node" and "pla" folders.

Under the "data\eng", I copied a file called: sy.at3 to the "data" folder. Then I deleted that "eng" folder.

Under the "data\save" folder, I created a folder called: user1

Then under the "data\sy\pla\eng" folder, I deleted:
E00M01.CI2
E00M01.CI2

Then using Notepad, I edited "fl.ini" (located in the "7" folder) as follows:
After the "CDPATH: ", I changed "CDROM" to "E:\" (My CD drive
is in "E:\")

I'm sorry this is so long. This replicates an XP install.

Hope this helps someone!

Hi
I see several questions here and post about patches savegames, etc. My question is I'm having a problem with the bedpost in Episode 2. I've done the UHS suggestions and few other in walkthrough to no luck...does anyone have a savegame for right after the bedpost or does anyone know exactly where to stop the the 45 post (right one that supposed to be done last) I've kinda' had it with the game already so if you can with those two things I'd be most grateful!!

I'm just dying to play this game, and I can't get it to work on Vista 32bit. Any ideas anyone?

Just an update. Doing this worked for Windows 7 Starter 32 bits. I am not 100% sure the game is running flawlessly (I need the manual or something), but sound and videos were running perfectly. Thank you, Lynn.
