Command & Conquer
Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, and part deux And I second Zack on his KOTOR claim, once I started playing I'd have to play for atleast a couple of hours till I got my fill and was able to quit the game. Ofcourse that was my first "real" RPG (many would dispute this, I know), so that must've had something to do with it. |

There is one game that truly deserves the title "Most Addicting Game Ever"
That game is Football Manager 2006. I installed it yesterday, I knew it would eat my life away, but still I started playing it, I played it seven hours straight and went to sleep at 5.30 AM.

Practicly any good RPG and Strategy game can be very addictive. FPS on the other hand can be good, but not much for replay value.

Certainly RPGs and FPSs could be addictive, but that's not really what they're made for. Simulations, on the other hand, are designed from the ground up to suck you in and keep you there. I don't know what game deserves this title, but it's a simulation. The reason I can't say which one is because I've long since gotten sick of games which try only to be addictive. Before that, the most addictive game I'd ever played was the empire simulation Star Trek: Birth of the Federation, but since I've heard it's a rip-off of Civilization, I'd imagine Civilization is more addictive.

I'm finding The Kingdom of Loathing to be very addicting at the moment. And it's free, so check it out.

I just bought Animal Crossing for my DS and I can already tell it's going to be addictive. For one thing there are many many items to collect, I can just tell I'm going to be playing this obsessively trying to find the very last shell or fish or bug I need to add to my collection.

For puzzle freaks, here's a little something, I found it quite addicting
http://www.tangram.i-p.com/ A Chinese puzzle where you have to put the 7 pieces in the correct place to fill up the shape. |
