World of Warcraft and Jade Empire Limited Edition came at the same time, I haven't touched Jade Empire 3 weeks later.

Just thought, Planetside for me. Just never ends, and I never get bored of it.

WoW Here Too
World of Warcraft has been my first massively multiplayer gaming experience and I can't say I've regretted it... okay, that's a lie. Thank god my account expired just before the start of finals, or I'd be failing out. But other than how addictive it is, I have no regrets.

Ragnarok Online. It's actually a really crap game, and the people who populate my server are racist numbskulls... but I am addicted to my in-game wealth and headgear collection.

I would have to award Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as the most addictive game I've ever played. I was just so intrigued with the story, and the gameplay was absolutely fun. I thought of giving it a break after I lost the first time I played it, and maybe try it again a few months later. But, oh no, I went back to it at least a week later, and played it again. As everyone probably knows, I started playing the light side on my second try, but succumbed to the dark side close to the climax of the game, and I beat the game that way.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Katamari Damacy. A truly original and addicting game. I've been playing it for the last three weeks and finally got all of my balls big enough to move the king to tears. I haven't had this much pure, unadulated fun playing a game in a long time. A sticky ball, you and lots and lots of things to roll up into the ball = fun.

Civ II for me. I've played Civ III a whole load too but I really got most of it out of my system with Civ II - I expect if I hadn't played that first, Civ III would be the one.
It remains to be seen whether Civ IV will ignite my passion again! "Just one more turn and that is it!" Andy.

Worms Armageddon is REALLY addictive. I mean, who doesn't love using bazookas and grenades to blow up other worms?

I suppose the games I've been the most addicted to (or spent the most time with) must be the original The Settlers (from 1993), which I still play from time to time with a friend (two player split screen strategy game, just brilliant), Morrowind and the amazing TrackMania.
I've always loved the Breakout/Arkanoid/Megaball style games, and the last one I got addicted to was BreakQuest (www.nurium.com). Other than that, the original Civilization ate a fair amount of time, as did Bubble Bobble, Heroes of Might & Magic 2, ADoM, et.c. It strikes me that most of the games I end up spending tons of time on are either strategy-type games where you can play over and over again (like The Settlers, Civ and also to a certain extent ADoM) or simpler arcade/racing type games. I love a whole bunch of different games from all kinds of genres, but most of them I only play through once. |

Multiplayer worms (any edition) as long as you're playing against an equally addicted friend. Dropping a mine on the head of the computer's worms just isn't the same somehow.
I find RPGs the most addictive, especially if they've got loads of optional side quests. I keep saying that I'll just finish quest X and oh, there's a bit of quest Y, I'll need to drop that back in town quickly, oh hang on, I've just been awarded quest Z, that looks quite a simple one, I'll just.......... Neverwinter Nights is the current front-runner in that respect.
