Default Grand Theft Auto IV

Trailer should be up in under 6 hours time!
http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/

So, what would you like to see in GTA IV?
Animals
Skateboards

Only 2.5 hours now!!

I don't care to see animals in-game because people will likely just end up killing them which is for some reason much harder to watch than man on man violence. Skateboards would be cool, but hopefully the entire gameplay mechanic has been retooled because by the time San Andreas hit, it was getting a little stale for my taste....

Not a fan of the GTA games, but this looks amazing. Hope that is real time graphics and not just renders.

GTA comes to New York.

Looks nice, but I hope they've modified the gameplay a bit too.

And they'd better port it to the PC eventually...

GTA has been in New York at least a couple of times already. Liberty City is New York, which is where GTAIII (and obviously LCS) was set in.

Wow, that was a horrible trailer. Definatly not worth the whole hype of a count down. *sigh*

Looks pretty though.

How was it horrible? You need to elaborate, please? (in other words, once again you've been suckered by the hype but it was your choice anyway)

Oh, and the Koyaanisqatsi reference with the Philip Glass type music was cute.

I really like the look of it. It had an epic feel when it was cutting between locations. Looking forward to playing it. I'm glad it's for the xbox360 as well.

I'm definitely getting this game because I love the series, but on what system I have no idea.

I'm hoping the game will feature locations outside of the US. The people smuggling comment made it sound like the character dealt with other countries.

I don't think the character just had business dealings with other countries, I think he is from another country. Sounded like a Russian accent. Or one of those Eastern European countries or something.

Oh, and silvsie. It is a teaser trailer. A teaser trailer. Unless you know something we don't, how much could you possibly glean from it, other than it setting the atmosphere and mood of the game, the way teaser trailers typically work?

I think this will end up being the GTA that we'll look back and say : "Yep the series has jumped the shark"

The pinnacle of the GTA series will always be Vice City and also the Truth missions in San Andreas. IMHO

You haven't yet played GTA IV. How would you know?

There are a lot of good directions the GTA series could go, so I don't think it'll get old anytime soon yet. Assuming the creators aren't dumb enough to miss those directions...

I'm just a pessimistic bastard or haven't you noticed?

Ah, but if that is the case, you must have been pessimistic about Vice City and San Andreas prior to playing them?

Word. I have no doubt that GTA IV will be quality, but will it go to the next level or stagnate? Entrophy affects everything and GTA is not immune. If they put into the next game the same vibe as Vice City, I'll gladly take my words back but if its just a bigger badder version of San andreas then forget about it.

This is a Wired article on the Rockstar founders and is a very good read.

Quote:
To create their next game, the Housers jetted members of their development team to Miami on a fact-finding mission. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City would be a fun-house-mirror version of Florida circa 1986, drawing on TV’s Miami Vice, the film Scarface, and other ’80s iconography. The secret to a Rockstar game is the style, mood, and setting — what the Housers call its “vibe.” When Vice City was released in October 2003, its white-sand beaches, period hairstyles, and vintage clothing were impeccable. Seven CDs’ worth of music from the era blared from car radios and nightclubs, everything from REO Speedwagon to Rick James. Voice-overs featured talent like Dennis Hopper as a seedy porn film director, Burt Reynolds as a corrupt land baron, and Philip Michael Thomas as the treacherous sidekick of the protagonist, voiced by Ray Liotta. Porn star Jenna Jameson recorded dialog for the aptly named character Candy Suxxx.

No need to run. I was optimistic after playing Vice City and pessimistic after playing San Andreas. Playing SA was like dating a crazy nympho chick. Yes the sex was good but damn she swore too much and I just couldn't wait to kick her out of my life (but only after one more round of coitus of course)

I am really enjoying the Russian or perhaps Serbian accent. As to what GTA 4 will be like......"Maybe things will be different?"
