It's confirmed: Tim Schafer's making a Sierra game!

The real important part of this story is of course that Schafer and the Double Fine team are officially signed with a publisher for their next game! Woo!

If you can't post sensibly, don't post at all.

So what do you guys think will be the genre of the game? I really hope it will be another platformer and not a game like Animal Crossing.

I'd love a shmup. No, really, a nice old school shoot 'em up with a Schaferesque twist.

I hope it's a remake of Custer's Revenge. That would be awesome. With a nice Schaferesque twist of course.

But it'll be interesting to see what Schafer cooks up next. I hope it's something a little more amenable to adventure purists than Psychonauts (which I was teetering on the edge of getting, until I heard vague whispers about a nasty thing called a "meat circus"). Though probably not. |

Isn't that like old news? My guess: Gabriel Knight - Ghosts In The Closet, an (almost) Chinese ghost turn based strategy adventure game story (or whatever) in black and white featuring Gabriel voiced by Bill Murray. Just for kicks.
And I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for something along the lines of that. Honest.

oh please let it be an adventure game.
I think I should walk over to their office and peek into the windows and report back here. |

...okay, maybe not. But something adventure-ish would be awesome.

Whatever it is, I hope Scott Campbell's artistic direction is used.

I think you're right though that it probably won't be any closer to a traditional adventure game than Psychonauts which I still feel is very much a graphic adventure at its heart. I'm sure whatever "genre" it is will have the best aspects of adventure games infused in it. Quote:

I hope it's not an adventure game. At least not a classical one. He's already created the perfect adventure game. And I enjoyed Psychonauts more than probably any of his adventure games, proving he's capable of branching into different genres...so I hope he does something new and blows our minds with it.
