Not better, but not too bad. But I feel like I've been playing this game for years already, I must be getting tired of the concept. It's far too early to tell if this surpasses the GTA games, but I can already tell you a couple of things that stands in the way to do that. Driving physics are shit - it's just no fun to drive around. That's what every gta clone has done wrong, and they continue doing that. A game where driving's such a essential part of the game, it's strange how they never seem to make a decent driving physics. GTA aren't extremely great either, but it's fun to drive, and it feels tight enough to make you feel you've accomplished something when you do a perfect handbreak turn. The only other game that's surpassed GTA in this aspect is Driver, but those games are all about driving physics.

I'm only dreaming of a GTA game with Driver physics. Parallell Lines sort of had this, but the driving had unfortunately been dumbed down somewhat and they completely removed the trademark of the series - the burnout button.

The good thing about GTA, is that everything it does is done well. Not perfect, but well enough to be fun and challenging. The only thing GTA really sucks at is shooting, but even that is acceptable overall.

But anyway, Saints Row looks to be a great game, but only if it lets you use the triggers and fix the driving physics. To aim when shooting out of the window, you have to let go of the accelerator and/or break, and move the camera with the right stick, at the same time as you're steering and shooting with the right trigger. And who the hell thought putting the handbreak on the left trigger when you're already steering with the left stick? It's just wrong).

Oh, and the framerate is unforgivable.

My thoughts exactly.

Though...I didn't have any framerate problems.

You know what would make an awesome GTA clone? If they made one with Burnout driving physics! Imagine the police chases

You lost me when you said it was like GTA.

I'm bored of gangster/driving games.

Nope. I'm assuming Saint's Row doesn't have Hot Coffee. Does it?

I just played it there and I have to say imo its better than GTA.

I dont see a problem with the driving, I love how I can be so wreckless that I can even send myself flying out from the car(with ragdolls! )

I also managed to bug it somehow by driving full force into the demo wall, getting half way through it and causing my car to spaz out and racket into the sky

I liked it, but I have a feeling it will be destroyed by GTA4.

Well, Saints Row will be a year old when GTA4 comes out, so it's not exactly in direct competition.

All the gotta muslce up stuff and hunger stuff. although I could live with that to an extent but its that driving skill that bugged me. No longer could you drive like crazy and pull of a handbrake turn unless you had you skill to max otherwise you would just end up spinning out.

I liked being able to just drive about and then do missions when I felt like it, but if I didnt keep going bqack to the gym again and again to keep my muscles I would have to go back there for a couple of game days to get them back.

also there was a crap selection of cars but im sure it wont be the same since its probably in a different timeline.

I thought the selection of cars in Saints Row was pretty good for such a small area. The full game will probably have a lot more.

One thing that bothers me is that, at least with San Andreas, the game had a positive message. I'm not wild at all about being able to buy drugs and booze and round up hos. Especially if this game is trying to deliver the whole "clean up the hood" premise.

If that was in refferance to my post then I was talking about the selection of cars in GTA:SA, there wasnt really much decent cars, mostly all family cars and people carriers.
