Another World (Out of this World) remastered
...and to be released tomorrow, Idle Thumbs reports.
I should probably dig up the copy a friend gave me years ago - I've never even started it. If the game is as unspeakably awesome as everybody makes it to be, maybe it's worthy to support Eric Chahi 's return to business (not a word about the price yet, though ).

The Thread™ will die.

If the price is good I'm going to get this, if only because I've never actually played it .

It's a great game, but there's a lot learning through trial and error involved so be prepared for that.
The remake looks classy.

The gameplay is actually pretty bad, but the game has an other-wordly charm to it.

the SEGA Megadrive and other platform versions were much better (digi music, more details) than the PC version. Still, the PC version was not bad in the era (EGAs, buzzers, Adlibs and 20 Mhz 286 ATs) ...
if you liked that, you probably like Bermuda Syndrome, too (for Windows). THAT proggie was revolutionary for the age ('96 if my memory serves)

Man, this reminds me: I've yet to try out Heart of Darkness, also by Eric Chahi (made Future Wars btw, an underrated gem). Should I try and hunt down a copy?

Heart of Darkness is actually quite good fun. I sold it some way back, but wish I hadn't. I've had cravings to get it for a long while.
Might be easier to hunt down the PSX version than the PC one, strangely enough. Think ebay might be the best bet. |

Okay, thanks! I was going to give it a try back in the day when it was new, but then the delays came and I just sort of forgot about it.
The first two Abe games are also a great recomandation for those who like puzzle platformers.

EDIT: The file contains the full game, but to unlock it beyond the free trial, you have to buy a registration key for a price of... 7 euros.

There is a similar game called OneEscapee which isn't half bad and it's freeware nowadays
It's as hard as Another World though and thus more than I can stomach. Last edited by MdaG; 04-14-2006 at 09:38 AM. |
