But a band that can be as good if not better than Metallica, and STILL come from Yorkshire (Halifax) is fantastic!!

Go Yorkshire

Hans Zimmer and Stephen Schwartz - "The Prince of Egypt" Soundtrack (I especially like the song "The Plagues")

He, he. Haven't heard that much from them since the Host album.. But there's still that oooooold poster (ca. 1993, Icon) hanging in my room at my parents' house. In which I coincidentally am right now. The room and the house, that is.

They have gone back to their roots a bit since "Host" as that was a bit techy sounding, but still good nonetheless. "Icon" is one of their best albums IMO. The last two albums are superb, "Symbol of Life" and of course their latest, which has a massive 18 tracks!!

"Over the Madness" is excellent, as is the acoustic version on the same album (their lastest) They also did acoustic for "Don't Belong" which again is superb. But my favourite track is "Through the Silence". I can't recommend this album enough mate.

There is no band that I am aware of that sound as unique or as melancholy (w/out being depressing ala My Dying Bride) as Paradise Lost can.....they are simply amazing.

Shame Nick and I think the rest of the group cut all their hair off

Whilst waiting to buy the new Nine Inch Nails album - With Teeth, I have decided to go back and listen to their older stuff - at the moment I am listening to The Downward Spiral.
This album ROCKS big time!!

Alkaline Trio - Dethbed. It's like if The Smiths would play Misfits songs. Fascinating.

I really think its impossible to name the best track on this album - there are so many to choose from - March of the Pigs, Mr Self Destruct, Hurt, Closer - the whole album is amazing

I can't think of any other albums that have so many good tracks, possibly apart from Pearl Jam "Vs"

The Downward Spiral has to be the most played cd in my collection

Nina Gordon - Straight Outta Compton

You can download it (legally) from the page that links to.

I challenge everyone familiar with the original to say this isn't the best cover song ever! Come on, I dare you

I was camping this weekend, and the only radio station I liked in the area was a classic rock one. They played "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas, and I really liked it. Now I'm listening to it again and again. I think the sound of it fits with my current mood (can't say anything about the lyrics, because I haven't really paid attention to them).

I have "The Downward Spiral" and haven't listened to it in quite some time. Thanks for reminding me...I'll go dig it up. My favorite song on there is "Piggy"; I think I'll listen to it first.
