Well, in truth, the first one is just the application I've been working in all day, so it feels like my desktop; the latter is what I currently have up on the desktop, which is a diagram for the same project.

I knew that . What's that application called? Is it handy? Does it run on the Mac?

The app is a linux programme called Kate, an advanced text editor for KDE. I'm in Ubuntu right now. I also have an app called Sublime Text installed in Windows 7 that works similarly. I'm not sure what I'm going to use when I start working on the MacBook my sister gifted me. I'm hoping to do all of the grunt work in one of these two apps and then fly the results into yWriter or perhaps give Scrivener a try at long last. I just needed something that let me edit multiple text files in the same window, so I didn't have multiple instances of EditPad Pro open on my screen, which was a little hard to manage.

BTW, I read that Victor Muller, the boss of Spyker, the company that bought Saab with hundreds of millions of borrowed money, now has a disagreement with a Swedish newspaper. The paper wrote a critical article about where Muller got his money from. So before the house of cards collapses I thought I'd put a Spyker on my desktop.

My current background. The Artwork is by one of my favourite artists, Faith Erin Hicks. Check out her DeviantArt, and her webcomic (which is finished) Demonology 101. Also, she has two published comics, "Zombies Calling" (awesome!) and "The War at Ellsmere".

You have 73 icons on your desktop and it's still not full! You must have a BIG screen

Ah, a mere 22'' widescreen monitor. But I set the icons size to a smaller than standard size. -

This is what I'm looking at right now. There's got to be a harmony between stylishness and usability. I don't like my desktop too cluttered, but I need a certain space. The panels I've tried so far as a way of organizing and hiding unused icons all started nagging me after a while.
