Hmmm - Trumgottist made me realise that I really want a desktop changer (I'm too lazy to update my background manually), and what would be really cool is an app that uses the Flickr API to pull in a random photo every hour or so.

Imagine my quite indescribable excitement then, when I found that it already exists. You can set it to download images from a fixed timeframe (say Yesterday - a really great idea), or from a given collection. I've got it pointing at my own photos currently, but I'm sure that'll get old soon. It draws a calendar on too - handy.

Now all I need is a widescreen camera

Squinky: Neato!

Mmm. It'd be kind of neat to have a blue 20-sided die widget that actually "rolls"... it'd be a fun toy *and* useful...

Hey, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one having that thought immediately.

Yay, we're such geeks!

That's where the "Show Desktop" quicklaunch icon is for

And what are they cluttering up, anyway? The background image?

Or Windows+D.

Yes. It's messy and ugly. (I say that, while I have piles of paper and books all around my computer. A picture of the area around my computer would say much more about my computer use than a picture of my desktop.)

You should see *my* desk

But I love all these little icons, though. It's some sort of a fetish, I guess

for me it feels more "home" when I have icons all over my desktop. A quick glance tells me when I'm currently doing, and using. I use the quick launch bar too, probably a lot more frequent than my desktop, but I'd still not get rid of any of the icons I have..

I know this is the wrong thread, but this is what my desktop currently looks like. Three different games (and one of them is even double!) are happily dancing together on it. Can you spot them all?

Brownie points for those that can name them all.

I'm talking about the floor more than the desk. Jazhara's desk does not qualify as messy. But I wonder why there's two copies of Morrowind on it.

I couldn't resist posting a picture of my desktop as well. I've got a lot of icons and take a look at the mess under the desk. But otherwise it's pretty organized.

Nobody wants to try spotting the games?

Okay, I'll tell you...

It's Baldur's Gate 2 + ToB, Morrowind + Expansions, and "Secret Files: Tunguska".

Dragon! Dragon!

It looks a lot like the Discworld intro...

It's been a mess ever since I got back from vacation. I still have my camera tapes lying around, stocked up mail that I still need to sort out (including a speeding ticket, whoops!), and so forth.

But at least I put my cool Sam and Max poster in a frame!

I'd post a picture of my desktop, but the only camera I have on me (aside from a rubbish mobile phone one) is a fairly terrible one mounted in the case of my laptop...
