I need help: What are those called?
I am working on a character for a RP at another forum. The RP is playing in a medieval-ish world (the world of Tortall, by Tamora Pierce), and my character is going to be a wandering Minstrel (Yeah, yeah. A kind of Bard. It is not really a fighting RP.). But right now I am stuck while describing his clothing. Here's a picture:
The problem is, I have no idea what to call those violet/grey shoulder things, and the two cloth strips hanging from the sash. Can anybody tell me what they are called? Or at least, how I could describe them. Thanks in advance. (I would ask at the other forum, but it is down right now). - By the way, I nicknamed him "Sir Robin's Hiking Radio"

Gee, um, I'm not sure myself. A tunic is more like a suit, and the robe description doesn't seem too fitting as it's more a type of a clothing that covers most of the body.
Then again, as long as you like the name I don't think it matters too much what you pick. I'd just go with a tunic or robe.

Mmmh...
Maybe this helps. I like to think that the shoulder thingies and the longer cloth hanging below the sash are one and the same piece of clothing. Something like those things priest wear...Like this? Only that it is joined again, in the midde, somehow. -

Okay, not exactly like that. I see it is just a strip thrown around the neck.
Maybe like a strong apron (In german we call it "Kittel") like you can use for pottery, or other crafts? -

Care to elaborate? I know, that's long hair, but they only had crappy hair for men at the Heromachine thingy...And anyway, I like how he looks. His hair turned gray at a young age (though not so young for medieval standards), and he has two different eye colours. Oh, by the way. His last name is a kind of tribute to LOOM. Goodmold. That's the name of the head of the Glassmakers Guild (R.I.P.). And he will be pretty unique in the RP, only for the fact that he is male. That RP is full of Estrogen (the heroes in Tammy's books are mostly females) -

Heromachine freaking rocks. I must have something like 50 heroes saved as .bmp files on my laptop. (Some suck, some I'm quite proud of.) I take it you bought the full version?
P.S. Maybe call the shoulder things a vest? But if they join up with the cloth strips below, I have no idea.

Perhaps a capelet or overtunic for the top one, since it goes around the shoulders? The other I'd call a coverlet.

Thanks CR, and FGD. Capelet and Coverlet sounds good. I think I will take that.

That's Camouflage...or Camel-flage - I told you that the "Divine Realms Inn" is full of Females. Many of which are clichéed, it seems. And a lot of occupations are popular (that is, the ones that important characters in the books have. There were no wandering minstrels, though). By the way, do you know Haer'Dalis, the Bard (no, I did not model Gariel after him. I only just noticed that they both have grey hair...and earrings): -

I did not buy the full version (though I would like to, if it is not too expensive. Does anybody know what it costs?). I only found it recently (two days ago), and already have about 6 heroes saved on two computers. - EDIT: I just found how much it costs. I might buy it. I have to ask my mother though (I only turn 18 on Valentines Day, so I have no credit card or PayPal account yet).

Yes, it rocks indeed. I acquired english copies of BG + TotSC and BG II: SoA + ToB through e-bay. Before, I only had the german version of BG: SoA + ToB. I am currently playing BG and have finished the TotSC expansion already, with my character Noemie Seveen (Seveen = Seven = 7 ) - P.S.: I wonder how many people wonder what the abbreviations mean. Over at Sorcerers I don't worry about that. It's more likely to confuse them when I use abbreviations for adventure games there, though I found that many people over there have actually played some of the classics (DOTT, MI, MI 2, MM, even BASS! and many more.)too, and some have even played the more recent ones (TLJ, Black Mirror, Syberie, etc.)

Photoshop is my friend. - P.S.: I acually only did the fancy script because I had made a typo. I had written "Goodmould" instead of "Goodmold".
