I am working on a character for a RP at another forum. The RP is playing in a medieval-ish world (the world of Tortall, by Tamora Pierce), and my character is going to be a wandering Minstrel (Yeah, yeah. A kind of Bard. It is not really a fighting RP.). But right now I am stuck while describing his clothing. Here's a picture:

The problem is, I have no idea what to call those violet/grey shoulder things, and the two cloth strips hanging from the sash.

Can anybody tell me what they are called? Or at least, how I could describe them.
