Maybe I could explain it. A bit while back over at Idle Thumbs forums, Marek posted that .gif in a thread titled 'Horsey!', stating that it freaked him out. Most of us reacted with the exclamation 'WTF!'. Me, I immediately fell in love with it and wanted one for myself as a pet. Shortly after it was turned into a lovely forum smiley that is now customarily used as an expression of astonishment, bewilderment, or just plain freaking out, hence 'WTF!'. Your reaction to it is exactly that.

Arghghgh, this thread is torturous. I friggin LOVE cheese and I'm also really hungry right now and the only cheese I have at the moment is some crappy Swiss from the supermarket. ARHAGH! Oh man this is terrible.

Trep: I love Swiss Gruyere too.
SoccerDude: I love Jarlsberg too.

Thanks Trep for the explanation!

Chris - melt some of that crappy swiss on some bread and it will taste better. You can do it in the microwave, but the oven works better.

Or if you have a toaster, toast some bread, then melt the cheese on it in the microwave. If you happen to have some fresh parsley (and knowing you, probably not) chop it up and sprinkle on top. Mmmmm. Yummy.

Wait a minute, Chris, you live in Berkeley. there are tons of places to get cheese. I bet some of them are even still open.

Erm... also, if you have any deli ham, it goes very well with swiss. try rolling a small slice of swiss up in a slice of ham, and nuke it for a few seconds.

This is a cheesy thread! I prefer mozzarella (with tomatoes, basil and olive oil), but also have a fetish for moldy cheeses. Actually of all the cheese out there I'm not eating only tofu, but then again, I don't even think it can be called cheese...

Because of my rich vocabulary you can now amuse yourself by counting how many times I said cheese in this post! Chee(r)s(e)!

Tofu is not really cheese, although the process by which it is made is similar to the one used for cheese. It is actually bean curd, made from soy milk.

I don't like tofu. It tastes weird, and the softer variants are nearly impossible to eat with chopsticks. I haven't tried the firmer variant, though.

The nice thing about cooking with tofu (firm tofu, anyway) is that it soaks up just about anything, so it's easy to flavor.

Argh, you don't know from torture! I ADORE cheese but for really annoying reasons I can only eat certain kinds right now . . . and really random kinds, and only the stupid ones, like cottage cheese (no offense.) Well, I can eat a few good ones. What I CAN'T eat is gruyere, and cheddar, and jarlsberg, and . . . mmmm.

I like sheep and goat's cheeses. Especially sheep's milk cheese. It really rocks--it's very very mild. My mother has this thing for goat's milk gouda aged in wine--has a purple rind. It's great though.

To really treat a cheese well, you shouldn't refrigerate it and you should not wrap it in plastic. But who can do that? You have to know what you are doing and keep it in a cool place wrapped in paper. (Right.) Still, FGM is right, if you are serving cheese at a party or something you should always take it out of the fridge a few hours before so it's not all rock hard and frozen . . .

I am now starving.

Good cheese is best at room temperature.

There are too many kind of cheese that I love to list them, and besides, I don't know their english names.
But anyway, they're certainly a reason why I love living in France. Ah, the smell of a melted old camenbert...

Ninth, I think you'd find that they retain their French names:
Camembert, Brie, Montrachet, Roquefort

Or Italian:
Provolone, Romano, Parmesan(o),Fontina, Mozzarella
