I can't say I understood what you said...
So, what's a semi-breve? (I know music, but exclusively in french )

What I find strange about music notes is why they use a "B" (C-D-E-F-G-A-B-#C). Here in germany it is "C-D-E-F-G-A-H-#C"! Makes much more sense!

I think it's because of the pronounciation. If you say "A B" in English, the position of the tongue when saying "A" and "B" are quite similar. It sounds something like "Ey Be".

In german pronounciation, "A" and "B" are a bit more far apart. When saying "A" (sounds like "Aah"), your mouth is open and long vertically. When saying "B" (sounds like "Bhe"/"Beh"), your mouth is less wide open horizontally (you' also have to close your mouth for a second when going from "A" to "B", but I think that's also the case in english). "H" however is closer to "A", as it is pronounced "Haa", and does not even require a change of the shape of your mouth. It just requires you to pronounce the letter "A" with a slightly different start in the back of your throat.

When I studied the piano: age 7-20 we used "C-D-E-F-G-A-H-C".
Then I took a long break from music and when I returned it was to the chorus I´m in. Then I discoverd it was "C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C".
I´m not sure it has to do with barbershop being "American style" or whether music notes are taught that way nowadays.

All these letters make it seem too mathematical for my taste.

Do ré mi fa sol la si do, now that's poetic.

Hey, that's wrong! It should be "Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do"!

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do.

Yeah, his work on Frankenstein is legendary, and his Swamp Thing's illustrations are classic.

Now explain how the german "B" is an English B flat, so that Bach could write a piece based on the letters of his name (B flat, A, C and B natural)...

Funny you should mention it; I had no idea that Ti existed until very recently.

Crazy non-french people.

I once went on a French exchange and sat in on a music lesson. I took pages of notes on the way it was taught (with recorders in hand to boot!).

What, you've never made play clothes for eight kids from a set of butt-ugly drapes? You've never yodelled while putting on an impromtu marionette show? Must just be me then.

My username was a mistake. I was trying to name myself as the crazy chciken restraunt owner in MI3 that was scared of El pollo diablo? My memory of that game is fading and I may have misnamed him. By the way anyone who actually knows his name will settle an argument in my head 2 years old.

My username title is kind of making fun of the annoying kids that bug me for free cd's, tickets and other shit when I book shows for bands. I like emo but hate the enviorment.

My signature is a quote from one of my favorite bands of all time "Further Seems Forever". Chris Carabba wrote the song when he was the lead for the band prior to Dashboard Confessional.

The fellow in MI3 was indeed named Captain Blondebeard.
