I'm with ya Squinky. As for the film 300, I was simply, not interested! So now I'm against violence in films. "Okay--goodbye"

ObPeeve: forgetting where you parked your car.

I miss this thread and all its wonderful misanthropy.

Peeve: When people say that one prejudice is "worse" than another, e.g. "racism is worse than sexism". Bullshit. Prejudice is prejudice.

Peeve: People who espouse political correctness but still manage to avoid, you know, actually talking to people who are different from them.

Peeve: People who think that women have already achieved equality with men, and as such, feminism is "taking it too far".

Peeve: People who claim that the reason women are still under-represented in various spheres of influence is because, well, they obviously want it that way.

Peeve: All forms of essentialism, really. And the "evolutionary psychology" mumbo-jumbo that comes with it.

You are a vat of frustrations Squinky. I agree with all of your peeves BTW.

Peeve: sleeping badly because your respiratory system gets blocked all the time.

Anti-Peeve: being greeted by your pet when you walk into the room in the morning.

Peeve: "Heath Ledger must have had a lot of demons to die of a drug over-dose and play a gay character (and it makes me sick to my stomach to think of two guys kissing while two girls kissing seems okay)"

I'm embarassed to say that the person who said that is related to me.

And only if the girls are, you know, normal girls and not ugly, hairy-legged dykes, right?

Anyway, here's some more:

Peeve: People who claim that women in the Western world shouldn't complain about perceived injustices because women in the Middle East have it so much worse. I mean, yeah, I care deeply about women in the Middle East, being of Middle Eastern origin myself, but who said it had to be an either/or thing? Why can't we work to eliminate injustice here and there?

Peeve: People who blame the victim instead of the perpetrator.

Bigger Peeve: Institutions that blame the victim instead of the perpetrator.

What's wrong with ugly, hairy-legged dykes? They're beautiful because of their pure ugliness!

Notice how I can spell English better than many native speakers?

Peeve: Here in NL we usually victimize the perpetrator. It's ridiculous; you are not even allowed to hit someone with a baseball bat if he comes to rob your store.

Edit: Anti-Peeve: Spring is coming! Hurray!

Peeve: When people complain about boys not doing well in school because they're not hardwired to sit still and pay attention, like girls allegedly are. I find this hilarious, given the fact that only a century ago, common knowledge suggested exactly the opposite.

Peeve: Using the word "blog" to refer to a single entry in a blog, rather than the whole thing, e.g. "he deleted his blog" instead of "he deleted his blog entry".

Anti-Peeve: The word "blog" itself. Lots of people hate it, but I've always loved it. It's an awesome word.

Anti-Peeve: Making tweets on Twitter about what I had for dinner, because I know exactly how much it annoys the Twitter-haters.

- People who rub their penises by sticking their hands underneath their underwear infront of others and think its okay also to do so without cleaning their hands afterwards!

Hey I have one too and it itches, and does a lot stuff but that does not mean you have to directly touch it yourself, there are other alternative effective ways to solve the "problem", and if all fails clean your hands! I am sure women too have irritations!

- People who don't care to wash their hands with soap!

aheeem these things makes me ashamed of my own sex but I don't usually regard it as a man thing as real men have hygene and manners! so man up!

Have I peeved this one before? It came up again recently:

Peeve: peeps that so willfully give up their right of way.

Okay, you're being careful--I get that. But you're also confusing the rest of us that have stopped and are waiting for you to take your right. And since you won't, we wait. Or we go go, leaving others to wonder "okay, do I go now then?"

Yep, they can be annoying. But I know that deep in your heart you love them for it .

Peeve: waking up too early every day.

Well, love is a big word, but hate is even stronger, which is why I use the term peeve.

Peeve: sleeping in late

Anti-peeve: sleeping in late

Peeve: truncated RSS feeds, especially when I'm reading them on my iPod Touch.

Hmm, that's weird. I mentioned this to my partner last night when we were talking about the film Bruno being recut to make it more accessible. I said "I don't think Bruno would offend me but I wouldn't be impressed by it." There seems to be a lot of people who find tasteless funny these days.

The child cancer comedy set from Ricky Gervais in GTA IV is another particularly recent example of the above.

Peeve: GTA IV being one of the highest rated games ever. Finishing that stinking heap of shit marked the day I became even more skeptical of consensus (at least with mainstream games)

I think this site has a very good way of justifying those stars and not least because there is some sort of systematic break down. I know the stars are an abstract representation but they're a handy way of communicating how much somebody recommends something. I mean you can say 'I heartily recommend this title because ...' without even hinting at some scoring system but the moment somebody says what do you recommend more A or B overall, the scoring system seems to become useful. Actually I prefer it when somebody says, "if you like this then you may like this." But the problem with this is when something unique comes along...

Sometimes the text in reviews can reveal too much about the specific elements of the game which takes away some of the surprise (Braid for example - the surprise on my face when I rewound time wouldn't have been there had I read the reviews and ignored the scores!). Anyway, I dunno, that's my two pennies

My old manager/boss used to do this. What do you do? Laugh through gritted teeth or tell him he sounds like a twunt?
