Peeve: Reviews with stars or some other scoring mechanism associated with them. Yes, including the ones on this site. Yes, even though I write for it. (Even worse offenders are the ones who break said reviews into such categories as story, graphics, realistic boob physics, etc.)
Peeve: Websites that make thumbnail images show up when you mouse over the links. They're as intrusive as pop-up ads, particularly when they show up right over the rest of the text you're reading. Peeve: YouTube videos. Sometimes they're cool, but I usually have to make time in my day to watch them, particularly when I'm at work and have to scramble madly for headphones.

Peeve : Tech support staff for an accounts program with no accounting knowledge. I hate having to explain why I can't make the entries they want me to (expecially when they talk to me like I'm an idiot explaining double-entry. Pretty clear on that one thanks but that only works when there is an entry to be made). Or where they need to make entries to recreate the problem I have. Or why something not being included in the defaults for their program is actually a major issue.
Anti-peeve : It's sunny outside. I'm going for a walk in a little while to cool off.

Peeve: Missions in games where I have to protect NPCs. Especially when that NPC has the brain of an imbecile, and continually likes to run directly into the line of fire. I hate you Alyx Vance, you're ruining Half Life 2!
*grumble*

With you on that one jat.
I had a similar problem in Command and Conquer : Renegade. Having rescued Dr Morbius I had to escort him to the surface. At one point he somehow ended up running far ahead of me. Since he was clad in experimental body armour I mistook him for a baddie and blew him away myself.

I didn't have that problem at all in the Half-Life 2 games. Alyx usually blew away the opposition without any help from me. It's easy enough to walk in with a shotgun and take down the baddies, anyway. Renegade was bad that way, though.

Peeve: People who use the word "literally": excessively, at times when it is completely unwarranted, and when they're actually talking figuratively.

Peeve: the weather we have been enduring here in NL during the past two weeks. Wake up, sun! It's SUMMER for crying out loud!
Anti-Peeve: this weekend will be nice. Future Peeve: the weather. After the weekend we're back to grey and clammy and chilly. |

ObCommiserate: Boy, has it been the same way here in respect to a lousy summer.
I went to a "celebration of the end of summer" event only to inform the hosts that summer was already over. Oy, this sucks.

Peeve: Annoying, gossiping, constantly drifting off topic- women on today's fund raising committee meeting.
Gah! Anti-peeve: Long walks with my daughter and my dog.

Peeve: People who counteract the issue of hypersexualised female video game characters by saying that male characters are hypersexualised too because they're unrealistically muscular. Umm, no. If you want to hypersexualise a man, you don't give him a six pack; you give him an enormous package. Like so.

Moderators who delete a post you thought was ok, but don't tell you why they deleted it, so that you don't make the same mistake of posting something like it accidentally again. I have a real love/hate relationship with moderators. Maybe because I've pissed so many of them off on past message boards.
Sorry. I'm in a huffy, indignant mood today. Heh. I never like to think that maybe, my posts are the problem sometimes. Cuz I'm a big message board baby sometimes. Last edited by MystGirl; 09-13-2008 at 12:25 PM. |

What site was that MystGirl?
ObPeeve: drivers, bike riders, and pedestrians who willingly give up their right of way. That shit just confuses everyone. Keep an eye out, sure, but take the turn we all expect you too!

Peeve: people at work who send you an email then come down to your office to tell you about it.
Peeve: people who do that and knock on your door even though it's closed and has an big "email only" sign on it. Peeve: people who do that and then look at your food and say "oh, you're eating lunch?". (ObReply: "Oh, it's only a model--what'sup?" Peeve: people who notice you're eating lunch, but sit down to explain what they want from you anyway. Peeve: people who, after explaining that you work on issues in a queue, on a priority basis, still come to your office and sit in your chair looking for help. Because to them, it's "me", and it's "now" (not to mention while my food is getting cold). (ObReply: "let me guess--spoiled as a child?") Thanks for listening. I now return you to the Die Thread thread, which is already in progress.

Annoying people - Just Say No

Peeve: People who confuse not liking something with being offended by it, particularly when it comes to subjects related to sex and violence. No, I'm not offended. I'm just not particularly impressed. Sorry.
