Which is the more significant half of Venom, really. It even switched hosts a few years ago in the comics (to the old Scorpion), and it hasn't changed much. Which goes to show you that the "host" isn't as important as that silly piece of cloth.
As for the whole actor thing: Tobey Maguire isn't so critical. None of the actors are. Different artists paint Peter Parker completely differently (and he certainly doesn't look anything like when Ditko started today), and it doesn't bother anyone too much. After a few actors, people would get used to the idea that the character isn't tied to any one appearance. And they wouldn't mind too much. |

If it wanted to, I'm sure the symbiote could alter its appearance to look like a Scorpion costume. The whole point with it staying true to the Spidey look is because of its unhealthy obsession with Peter Parker.

Wait a minute... venom was a villain? I've read from "along came a spider" #4 to "finale" #3, and he wasn't one. Damn government.

He's more of a villain then a hero. I remember reading one comic were Eddie is hitchhiking and this family picks him up. Later on the family is getting robbed or something so he kills the criminals.

No, he kills innocent people too. I've seen him kill a few cops and maybe some random dude on the street.

Yeah, he/it kills innocent people sometimes, like in "venom: the hunger"(where it was only his alien other, not edie brock), but in "the hunted", "on trial" or "liscence to kill", he was a good guy.

No one is in your way when you can swing hundreds of feet in the air.
