The Valentine's Day Hate Thread™ (maybe?)
Because, y'know, I wouldn't be a truly fashionable cynic if I didn't create one of these.

I hate Valentine's Day. I hate it. It's a day designed purely to swell the coffers of the chocolatiers, florists and card producers while making single people feel second rate.
It also makes it very hard to buy birthday cards, and I know several people with birthdays in the middle of February. So yeah, hatred. Grr. |

Hate? Hm. Nah. Hate is too much acknowledgement. *looks forward to a completely normal day*

Valentine's Day has never really affected me enough to hate it.
I'll join you out of principle though, as Valentine's Day is just a vacuous commercialist event designed purely to sell merchandise. If I had a special someone, I wouldn't need an arbitrary day on the calendar to show them that I cared about them.

They want you to fall in love with the idea of being in love. 'Cause nothing says "I love you" better than flowers and chocolates and cards.
I found this "present" linked to on another board in another thread on the same topic. Don't click if you don't want to. You have been warned.

So, does this mean you don't want me to remind you that I love you?

Oh, I'm all for love. I just hate how it's so commodified in our society.

Are you saying you'd like to put all those marvelous escort services out of business?
