Default Schwarzenegger land revisited

I just saw a documentary about the election of Arnold as the governor of California.

I just want to ask how he has done so far as governor? Has he turned out to be as bad as you feared? Better?

Todd, the developer of Agast is a real Arnold fan. Poor bastard. Meaning Todd. But on the other hand, Todd thinks everyone needs a gun, so maybe it is just to be expected. The Agast message board is full of socialism vrs. whatever-it-is-that-Todd-represents discussion.

I think you have to look at the "totality" of his comments. Perhaps he's saying that a solution to homosexual marriages is forced sex change operations for one of the couple. Let's not jump to the conclusion that he doesn't think before he opens his mouth

Of course we wouldn't, Dom. We all know he learns his script before he opens his mouth.

Btw, is it just a coincidence that there's an ad at the top of the page for Schwartzenegger T-shirts?

Now if that doesn't initiate some hot topics I'll be amazed.

Anyway, it seems like he's following Bush's example rather closely. Way to go, Arnold!

It's not that I'm an Arnold fan at all. He's a Republican that appeals to Democrats, and both parties are too authoritarian these days. I had to support Arnold because he's the only one who stood a chance against Gray Davis and tax and spend government. But he's only for cutting taxes and government during what is a spending crisis in CA. (Spending has increased much faster than tax revenue after the .com boom.) I agree with much of what he does in this mode, and it's certainly by far the best real alternative.

I also don't think everyone needs a gun. What I think is that the government's job is to protect everyone's right to have guns, as long as they don't use them to harm people. We human beings have the right to do anything so long is it doesn't take away another individual's equal rights.

"Whatever-it-is-that-I-represent" is freedom of choice about how to spend my own money and take care of my own body. That's the basic reason behind of all of my political positions.

I like Schwarzenegger's talk about the illegal marriages in San Francisco. If I were the mayor there I'd be kind of scared knowing that Arnold was coming to personally terminate me.

That was a great movie, but I don't quite see what it has to do with the topic at hand. Michael Moore never said that guns should be outlawed. In fact at several points in the film he said quite the opposite. Heck, he's a member of the NRA. His point was that the problem with gun violence isn't about how many guns are available. It's about the culture of fear that's become so prevalent in America.

Welcome to this board Todd. It is refreshing to have someone present their political views and points in a non-elitist way.

You'll find that most everyone here that is not apolitical is socialistic in their leanings, to put it mildly.

Btw, yours has to be the first post on current events and with more than one thing to say, in which I agreed 100%.

Moore's series "The Awful Truth" that was on a few years ago was pretty good at the time, but I've since learned that he's a demagogue who misrepresents the truth in order to make money. I haven't seen "Bowling" yet because I don't want to contribute my dollars to him, but I've read a lot about it, such as this:

http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html

My favorite commentator and radio host Larry Elder has had an open invitation for Moore to come on his show to debate him for 504 days and 22 minutes now, but Moore won't go on. Larry has been asking tough questions of him, and now even softball liberal shows like "The View" are too much for Moore to handle. Larry is about to release his own documentary to expose Moore's deceptions. It is called "Michael and Me."

Good, then this should be a fun group.

Moore did make that point, but he also mislead his audience in many ways. (You can read about that in the above link if you wish.)

The U.S. has a high murder rate because of gangs. The situation wasn't created by guns, but by government programs that pay women to have fatherless children who are more than twice as likely to turn to crime, and drug prohibition that increases the price of drugs thereby creating a black market responsible for half of our crime and imprisonment. Places in the U.S. with the strictest gun laws like L.A. and Washington D.C. have the highest murder and crime rates, and the 30 or so states where it's legal to carry concealed firearms have the lowest.

The actual factor that seems to affect crime rates all over the world is the degree to which criminals are punished for committing crimes. It's pretty simple, but politicians won't say that because it doesn't push the emotional buttons that get them elected.
