I shouldn't be so angry about this but I can't help it. Basically, I've taken up photography as an interest. I've been playing around with my dad's old manual 35mm SLRs and figuring it all out and all that. Anyways, I got some film today and went out into the neighborhood and photographed a roll of film for a couple of hours. The first few was still just kind of figuring out the lenses and the light meter and stuff, but I quickly got used to the camera and actually took some photographs that I think could have been pretty good. At least, I thought I was able to churn up some pretty interesting compositions out of various things in the neighborhood, some of which very spontaneous (people walking or placed in advantageous spots, etc). Anyways, I finished up the roll, very satisfied with the experience. But I fucked up the entire roll in a fudged attempt to unload the film. Instead of rewinding the film I pushed it in the opposite direction and whne I realized I was going in the wrong direction it was too late...the film was off the spokes and unable to be rewound into the case. So yea, I'm pretty irritated with myself. I guess it was mostly an experimental roll anyhow, but I hate that I lost some really nice shots.
I love playing with this old camera though. It's a Canon F-1 (apparently a pretty big deal in Canon's repertoir), and I have a pretty decent selection of lenses: two 28mm, two 50mm, 80-200mm zoom, 70-220 zoom. Anyways, I guess I'll have to reshoot tomorrow and try to find some of those really good shots again.

Just do what I do, and hug the bottle*. Whiskey doesn't place any conditions on its love.
* technically I store all my spirits in decanters, I dislike packaging.

Oh dear!
Daughter is sobbing non-stop because of a -in her eyes- fiasco hair cut. I think she looks great but her big brother didn't cheer as much as she had hoped he would. This is a real life drama! *sighs and walks into the kitchen to prepare dinner* EDIT: The sobbing finally ended and I thought it was over. Then I came up with the stupid idea that we should e-mail pictures of us (I too have been to the hair dresser's today) to Mr J who works out of town this week. When she saw her picture the sobbing started again. Aww! I'm such an insensitive clot.

No way, I would never say that about you Jelen ((Jelena)). I bet your daughter will wash her hair dry it and style it and it will all be ok. I thought that happened to me one time, well most of the time, and I just came home and washed all of those styling products out and dried it myself and all was right with the world. Your daughter is a teenager right? I would caulk it up to being a girl and a teenager; all you can do is trying and sympathize with her. Ask her if she would like to have another hair cut into a new style maybe that will help. There was probably nothing you could have done, she probably would have been upset not matter what. Don't be so hard on yourself, it will all work its self out, I promise.

Poor Jelena! You know as well as anyone that if things aren't 'just right' a young teenage girl goes into histerics! At least your daughter doesn't want green hair like mine does!

Thanks bulldog and rlpw!
You're both right and deep inside I'm aware of it too. But yesterday I just had to get it out of my system.

I still have a desire to dye my hair bright blue someday, given that I never had a chance to do so as a teenager. My parents were more strict than most...

j/k. Why not do it while you're still at school. You might have a hard time getting a job with blue hair. And to give you the end of the real life drama: My daughter came home from school happy as can be since all her friends, some that aren't her friends and even some of the teachers had all said how great she looked in her new hair style. Mind you, she looked exactly like she did yesterday when she was sobbing in front of the mirror.

Perhaps it's even an advantage to have blue hair in the gaming industry?

Well Right now I my daughters hair has been died to where it's a dark red on top and fades down to black qt the tips. She has it so straight that if we put a pair of blue sunglasses on her she looks like Ozzy Osbourne's love child

Starting Sunday or Monday, I'll be gone on a week-long trip up to see some relatives in Minnesota. I doubt anyone will notice my absence, though.
I'll post some pictures upon my return. And I do hope to find the Thread gone when I return.
