I was at a Christmas party quite a few years ago. The guy who was throwing it was dating a Swedish woman and she brought some alcoholic beverage. They served it in small stemmed glasses and you said Skol and then drank it. I'm not sure if it's the same thing as the Snaps above.
Incidentally, every Swedish woman I've ever met (and you're included in this Jelena) has had brown hair. |

The small stemmed glasses are the correct ones. Another important thing is that the snaps bottle comes right from the freezer before you serve it. If you look at the bottom of the bottle in the pic you can see the frosty surface. Quote:
My daughter is a natural blonde though.

Damn it...
It turns out that salty seawater completely destroyed my mobile phone and I have to buy a new one, thankfully the insurance company will pay me part of the costs.

What does Skol mean? All the supermarkets over here stock crates of cheapy piss-like lager called Skol, it's well nasty. You can't beat Tescos Value lager of course, at 22p a can

Skål is what we say when we propose a toast, just like cheers I guess. The word skål means bowl. In ancient times I guess the vikings raised a bowl of mead and said Skål

This old thread is back since it was Midsummer's Eve in Sweden yesterday. I feel compelled to bring it to your attention as I always do.
We spent it with friends at a tiny island and had a great time. Pictures: Precious: The boat behind ours was huge and very luxurious. Midsummer lunch with herring and potatoes, salmon, strawberries but no snaps. We forgot it at home. EDIT: After looking more closely at the dates I notice I don't bump this thread every year after all. I actually thought I did.

You need more blonde people in your photos.
Your ruining the stereotype. Looked like a fun day out.

What! It's summer already? Why don't we have warm weather then? I thought it was still spring.
Edit: Ah, I'm right. Summer here starts at 7:45 this year, so still an hour to go . Last edited by tsa; 06-20-2009 at 08:49 PM. |
