I know there are far worse things, so I'm trying my mood to get up again.
You're right, it is the contrast between happy and sad that makes the 'happy' part even better, but...I'd prefer that without the 'sad' part being required.
Anyways, for some reason writing it all down did help a bit, so now I'll try to let a good night's sleep do the rest

Mood: content but tired
Thoughts: I've had a nice few days in Zeeland with my parents. However, this was the first time I experienced getting out of bed feeling 'broken' because of an appalling matress. It took me some time each morning to get all my muscles back in their right places. Anyway, I saw the sea again in Oostkapelle, and we ate mussels and flatfish. Mmm . I'll have to post some pictures soon.

Apparel: still in my PJ's
Weather: it looks to be another sunny day today.
Mood: content
Thoughts: Although I still haven't found a job I am still not desparate. That's great! I also am not bored to death already. I hope the job situation changes soon, however. But I read in the paper yesterday that we are now in the small updraft in the middle of the crisis' W-curve. So it can be a long time until high-tech companies need new people.
At home, I'm thinking of giving Kees a new name. Kees (pronounce 'case') sounds too much like 'nee' (pronounce 'nay'), so the poor guy feels constantly corrected even when I call him by his name. He doesn't listen to his name anyway, and he is still quite young, so changing his name will probably not give many troubles. But what to call him? Any ideas are welcome. It has to be pronouncable by a Dutchman .

Edit: I decided to call him Klaas. It has the 'k' and the 's' sound, doensn't sound like 'nee' at all, and is an old-fashioned Dutch name too. He seems to have no problem with it

Thoughts: Mr J and I were watching the movie 28 days later but it made me so ill at ease I had to leave the TV. Zombie movies just isn't my cup of tea.

Today was a nice day though. We had Mr J's brother and family over for dinner. I made boeuf bourgignon and my sister-in-law brought the most delicious cheesecake. After dinner we went to the cemetery to put lights on the grave of my late parents-in-law. It's a tradition in Sweden to visit the graves on this night. (All Saints Eve would be an appropriate translation)

It's really a shame I had to ruin a perfect day with a stupid zombie movie.

Poor Jelena. I can't stand blood and gore and scary movies too. I hope you and Mr. J. are still talking!

Is that pic from a computer game? And if so, do all those people move? That's pretty amazing graphics if they do. What are they doing, making a crop circle?

Mood: content.

Weather: not so good but the road still sounds dry when cars pass. I haven't looked outside yet

Location: couch, in the sun

Apparel: dressing gown

Activity: I just downloaded all the 'gift' songs from Jens Lekman's website and am putting them in iTunes now.

Mood: content.

Thoughts: I feel quite good. I am looking forward to my new job. I already will spend some of next week doing a small job for my former group. I will be nice to twiddle some knobs in the clean room again after 8 months.
The weather has been fine since yesterday. The rabbits are outside in the garden. Klaas likes that a lot: he jumps around like a drunkard and runs circles around Annabel at high speed. Annabel looks at him and thinks: 'Show-off!' She's not much of an outside girl.
I will drive my new car to friends of mine in Deventer in an hour or so. I'm looking forward to that. Due to all kinds of problems I haven't driven that far in 6 years or so. It feels so good to be able to do it again!

Location: home, couch
Apparel: khaki trousers, blue and white shirt
Activity: preparing for bed
State of mind: looking forward to the weekend
Thoughts: I feel better than I have done in months, thanks to the new medicines I have now. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, when I will drive my roofless car through the countryside if the weather permits it! And on Sunday I have a nice party to go to because the kids of good friends of mine have their birthdays next week. I spent an hour in the shop this evening, trying to find them good presents, with help of their father whom I had on the phone.
The sun is finally coming out again in my life.

I hope the cold didn't get you too much, Jelena

Location: At home, behind my desk.
Weather: Raining, the sky looks pretty dark.
Apparel: black jeans, dark blue half-sleaved thingy. Ought to look nice or something.
Mood: sad, partly melancholical, mostly sad and tired of all the memories
Thoughts: while I was eating I suddenlty realized that in one month and a half my college years are over. That in itself isn't bad (I like studying, but I also feel it's time to move onto a new phase in my life. It tends to get me a bit melancholical, but that's normal). The bad thing is that it also triggered memories of things that happened during my college years. And there are some bad ones. Things I thought I had left behind, of which I thought I had moved on, they are still there, and they came back. I don't know why they hurt so much, 2 and a half year later. Why would just the bad memory get to me so much? I guess it made me realize that no matter what, there are some things that will not change for the better.
I definately need to get my mind of things.

Bad memories like that can take us hostage when we least expect them, Luna. Doing something now that pleases you can take the sting out of it.

Jelena,
I guess it's a good thing you're not Bajoran. I hope you're okay.

Location: Just sitting down at my computer desk after putting up more bookshelves and cleaning the rug in my library (former guest room)
Weather: Hot and sunny; Thank goodness for air conditioning.
Apparel: Light blue jeans, lavendar T-shirt with "I need my reading time" on it, sneakers; I'm a bit grubby.
Mood: Pleased to be able to check off two more tasks on my spring cleaning/organizing list
Thoughts: This is the last bit of wall space for books in the entire house. It's time to pass some books on to friends and start making more frequent trips to the county library.

You've only run out of WALL space? Then there is still hope.
