Tear Jerker Songs.
What songs do you know of that make you feel so sad and/or make you cry? The song could be related to a personal experience, heck, mine are. I have no problems crying, I hate keeping myself from ceying, just makes me feel like Im ready to explode.
I can't remeber any songs at the moment, but the new ''Robbie Williams - Advertising Space'' was a very touching song to me. ''Coldplay - Swallowed by the Sea'' made me cry for almost an hour after listning to that song over and over, reminds me of by good friend who died by drowning. So what tear jerkers do you guys listen to when you need a good cry?

French (or assimilated ) singers Jacques Brel and Barbara make me cry more often than I would like to admit.

Jewel's "Pieces of You" album has plenty songs.
Pieces of You "because she's pieces of you..." Little Sister: "Cause so many times you've come to me crying trying to stop. you said it hurts so bad But please don't let you go back for more"" Painters: "Until one day the rain fell as thick as black oil And in her heart she knew something was wrong She went running through the orchard screaming, 'No God, don't take him from me!,'" Adrian: "He looked so fragile, he looked so small She wondered why he was still alive at all Everyone in town had that 'I'm sorry look' They talked in a whispered hush, said 'I'd turn the machines off'" The album should come with a health warning. It's got plenty of less depressing songs.

I can't listen to Brahms' fourth symphony without breaking out into tears.

The lyrics: Puff, the magic dragon, Lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist In a land called Honah Lee. Little Jackie Paper Loved that rascal Puff, And brought him strings and sealing wax And other fancy stuff. Puff, the magic dragon Lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist In a land called Honah Lee. Together they would travel On a boat with billowed sail. Jackie kept a lookout perched On Puff's gigantic tail. Noble kings and princes Would bow whenever they came, Pirate ships would lower their flags When Puff roared out his name. Puff, the magic dragon Lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist In a land called Honah Lee. A dragon lives forever, But not little girls and boys. Painted wings and giant rings Make way for other toys. One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more And Puff that mighty dragon, He ceased his fearless roar. His head now bent in sorrow, Green scales fell like rain, And Puff no longer went to play Along that cheery lane. Without his life-long friend, He could not be brave, So Puff that mighty dragon Sadly slipped into his cave. Puff, the magic dragon Lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist In a land called Honah Lee.

You know, I don't see how anyone can get emotional about a bunch of lyrics on top of bland music. Even if those are the most heart-wrenching lyrics of all time, the music'd bring it down, you know?

What song would be an example of having "heart-wrenching" lyrics, but also has "bland" music?

On the other hand, I was in tears the very first time I heard Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor. Okay, so maybe I'm just being elitist here, but if a pop song were to affect me that strongly, it would need to be more than just pretty lyrics. Edit: Take Puff the Magic Dragon. Now ignoring whether or not it is about drugs, the music is just so... ordinary. It's completely predictable, and much too simplistic. |
