Oh, and did you know that Dodos were basically big pigeons? They were related.
Also, it seems that the Dodo was not hunted to death. In fact, the sailors back then *tried* eating it, but apparently the meat was barely palatable. The demise of the Dodo was already underway, so they didn't have to be eaten to become exztinct. -

My favorite has always been the Inca Dove. Their not even big enough to eat and in Texas they would nest in your in the pots of your outside plants and you could watch the baby birds grow up

I believe Quails are smaller, and you can still eat them. You just have to eat a lot to get sated. But that Inca Dove is cute. -

It's true, the poor are a fine example of this.

That's a comment that might be considered thread-killing stuff, but as I don't want The Thread™ to end with a post like that I feel obliged to add another post.
And how about a change of topic: Let's talk about the weather. It snows here. Furthermore, I believe that The Thread™ should be killed.

It rained here today. I got wet. I hate being wet. I cursed the troposphere. I blame precipitation on the poor.

I am watching TV right now when an advert for Simon the Sorcerer comes up. At one point they say "The Adventure Game for you PC!", and I shout, shocked "No, not Adventure", thinking they said "Action Game", as Simon seems to have been jumping at the time. So I quickly say "Err, I mean: Yes, Adventure!" to counteract all the evil spirits.

Grey Squirrels, epitome of a Yankee; over paid, over sexed, and over here!
STOMP on them I say!

It may not be the answer, but in the meantime it's a pretty good way to tackle the question.
