You know what makes me furious? Our Green Party wants to hold a referendum about nuclear energy. They want to exploit what's happening an Japan to their maximum advantage. Bah.

And why not? If they're against nuclear energy why couldn't they try to use this opportunity when everyone's seeing that there are dangers to it after all? In a year or two everyone will think there's no way nuclear energy can have any real negative effects. What's the time limit when they can do such a referendum?

Most people here in the Netherlands have no idea about what nuclear radiation is and how to interpret the news that is coming from Japan. Due to the way in which this disaster is brought to them in the media, they are now all against nuclear energy. So if you hold a referendum now almost everybody will be against it, but almost nobody who votes knows anything about it.
