We don't always get what we want, but free adventure games is something that you do get. See the underground section of this site for starters, then there's games such as Out of Order and Nathan's Second Chance, not to mention the great big pile of AGS games. And if you don't mind text games, there are many more good games!

(There is also the game mentioned in my sig below, but if you haven't played that you may want to wait a month or two. I'm going to improve the sound, and maybe add some more animation.)

And there are a bunch of excellent independent games in development, such as the superb Picaroon: The Lost Years.


Of course, it's worth questioning whether or not all the games in development will ever be finished, but still.
