At least then you'll have something proper to post about in the "recent splurges" thread, instead of £1.99 CDs.

Very witty.
Oh, and it appears to be true, because the contact details for all of their showrooms have mysteriously vanished from their website. Let's see how this pans out. I can sense that this is going to take weeks, though. Some of the reports I've read suggest that they've been bailed out in order to honour warranties and whatnot. I'm not optimistic, though. |

Time is money. Buy a new computer.

Because, as a student without a job, I can clearly afford to just drop another grand on a new PC before finding out for certain whether or not I'm going to get the old one back.
You must have me confused with the closet millionnaires that frequent these forums... |

Bah, you clearly don't fit that "starving student" stereotype.
Anyway, you have parents, that's the whole point of them! Make Daddy pay, as a doctor it's hardly beyond his means. Now less talk, and more action. Think positive!

If there's one thing that I barely ever do in life, it's to think positive.

And there in is your problem. You don't have to be a positive person to think positively.
Negative thoughts lead to all sorts of nasty things like worrying, so what you must learn is the art of denial. Convince yourself that everything will just be fine, and then you'll feel fine. It's wonderfully effective.

And if I don't want to feel fine? Because, you know, worrying can be useful sometimes.

Ah, well then you also need to learn the art of apathy. Once you stop caring about everything, you can free yourself from those problems too.

No, I just don't want to be helped in a way that is dependent on my agreeing to change my entire personality. Even if some people might suggest that that would be a good thing.

Come on, it's just a little tweaking. A personality is a fluid thing anyway, we're always changing as each life experience leaves it mark on us. You wouldn't be altering who you are at the core, just adapting your mechanism for dealing with things.
Don't knock it until you've tried it.

I'm sensing a lack of appreciation on your part.
You should rectify that.

That wasn't what I had in mind.
Try harder.

Well, excuse me for thinking that Robert's perfectly fine just the way he is.
Now, let's forget about all this and go back to
