I miss snow.
If I want to see it I have to drive east to the Sierras (which you don't want to do if it is actively snowing as you need chains and the traffic is horrid due to the conditions and the skiers who need their fix. ) I'm hoping for snow in Illinois for Christmas so I can get my fix. I love it when it first snows and it's the dryer kind that sparkles in the moonlight. It does get icky after a while but then you just get a fresh snowfall and it's taken care of. |

Snow in almost every area in England except the Midlands... it's bad enough that chavs roam freely through our streets but we also have NO SNOW! NO SNOW!
NO SNOW!! cries

There was also no snow that actually settled down in Portsmouth. It says something that we never need to change the tyres on our cars . |

It never snows where I live. Well, occasionally, but the odds of it happening are roughly the same as mine are of winning the lottery.
But when I was a kid I used to live in the suburbs of Chicago, and there was a park right behind my house with a small hill, perfect for sledding on. Nowadays when winter comes all I have to do is start wearing warm clothing, and maybe let my hair grow a bit to keep my head warm. The flip side, of course, is that summer is absolute MURDER here; it's like being in an oven! The safest thing to do is stay inside as much as possible, or risk dehydration. |

Please don't let it be doing that when I'm out there in January. Scott is a dyed-in-the-wool Southerner, and does not deal with slippery frozen white stuff very well.

So beautiful. In really dry snows, you can see them in all their glory when they fall on your window. |

Sadly we don't expect snow here in Corvallis during winter. It's simply very cold, wet, and overcast (it's rainforest, really). If you want snow here you'd have to drive 3-4 hours to Mount Hood or Crater Lake.

Snow... How nice. Yesterday I was on my way to work, when I got stuck in a traffic jam.
AND THEN I SPENT 12 HOURS IN MY CAR!!! I didn't eat (Okay, except for a candybar) and drink for 12 long hours. We couldn't move an inch. When the military finally resqued us (after removing fallen trees and crushed cars and trucks off the road) I had to drive another 2 hours at snail-speed. So I never reached work, and I've watched the sun coming up and going down. (For the Dutch people: I live in Apeldoorn and work in Arnhem, that should say enough if you followed the news a little) --Erwin

I'm sorry Erwin. It was probably nice to get home to your toasty house. Whenever we would visit my aunt and uncle in Minnesota (southeast part of the state), they always made sure we were equipped with boots, a shovel in the trunk and a ditch bag (a bag of food and water) just in case anything happened. If you aren't expecting it though, it can be a pain.
