It was probably nice to get home to your toasty house. Whenever we would visit my aunt and uncle in Minnesota (southeast part of the state), they always made sure we were equipped with boots, a shovel in the trunk and a ditch bag (a bag of food and water) just in case anything happened. If you aren't expecting it though, it can be a pain.
