Default I've got to share a slice of geeky happiness...

About 99% of you guys probably won't care about this and I'm sure only a handful will know what I'm even talking about... but I've got a huge grin on my face and I have to share why.

I've been playing a game called Ravenblack Vampires for way too much of my life. It's consumed large amounts of my soul and a good deal of real life cash to boot.

I've always been a think tank sort of person on it... whenever I get a good idea for a clan, I make one, or at least pass the idea on to an existing clan which could pull the idea off. The one I was most proud of and I guess I still am is called Splinters of Dusk, possibly the only clan in the game genuinely uncaring for the little numbers beside their name and simultaneously never ever ever ever fighting back. That's pretty, well, unusual, to say the least... most people defend their "blood points" like it wasn't a game. Anyway, beyond that, they're mercenaries / assassins. IC, they have no allies and their codex forbids they would, OOC they've got a lot of folk who they get along with. But IC, they're pretty much definable as underdogs

Anyway, there's currently a contest up here, and one of the polls reads this:

Clan of the Year (They're mean{or nice}, loaded with green, and they work like a well oiled machine)
o Sanctuary of Immortal Enlightenment
o Shadow Court
o Splinters of Dusk
o Capadocious Clan
o The Inner Circle

It got a nomination!

It probably won't win the poll simply because, well, Capadocious Clan is doing a marketing campaign around the whole thing and recruiting new vampires like mad just to win the poll but it might get a runner up? But even so, a nomination! That's so cool.

Edit: Oh yeah, regarding IC/OOC,... yep, a lot of this stuff has to do with roleplaying. Not so much what happens in the game itself, but what people invent beyond it.

Spitfire: Have a similar story to tell?

I should probably add I'm not actually in the Splinters of Dusk (a/k/a gekkonids) anymore, by the way. I just watch them from afar these days. n_n

I understand - you have to respect someone who does things their own way and succeeds! Like you, Pinksie - I respect individualism.

That is indeed awesome, Pink. The occasions when you see that one of your ideas has hit the big time are always a great feeling.

Even not fully understanding the idea I can appreciate the achievement. I like thay you've chosen to do something so apparently unorthodox with the clan. Too many people seem to stick to tried and tested formulas for these sort of things (only theirs is going to be the biggest and best at the tried and tested formula) I also can understand how great it is to get a nomination in a poll that isn't goign to mean anything to anyone outside a particular group. I won a poll in an internet group myself and remember how good it felt

OK, technically my shirt won the category Most Evil (hence my User title) but it's still legendary 2 years later and I have to wear it to any in-person get-togethers.

That does explain your user title... what was on that shirt? Why is it evil?? And don't say because people always have to ask you that...

The shirt is still extant. That's actually me wearing it in my avatar. Because the avatar picture is so small it doesn't come across so well but it is actually eye-searingly bright. A good description is a fireworks display happening in front of an exploding volcano. It is predominantly this quality that has led to it being termed the evil shirt (though it's legend has grown since)

Perhaps this picture with some fairly disturbing shorts will help

Any clearer now?

Great photo!
Not everyone can coordinate an ensemble with the cars parked behind them in a photo. I'm impressed!
