Rattlesnake Jake character design - opinions?
Simple question: With or without the vest?
Special thanks to Darth Mandarb of the AGS Forums Critics Lounge for the assist here as well. |

It depends how many of the other characters have vests! After all, you want him to look different...

Perhaps both? Let him take off his vest when he goes inside a building.

The vest scores slightly higher visually (more detail, interesting pattern, etc.) but I still think you should go with the one without the vest. It has a more of a "random guy accidentally caught up in bigger plot" feel since he doesn't seem quite as fully equipped for an adventure.

Maybe he could get the vest later on in the game; I think that would work pretty well. Changing the look of the character is always a plus in my book.
But I vote yes for the vest either way. Cause I think it just looks better.

without vest, because Jack looks not like an 'action-hero'.

With, plus it looks like a logical place to store inventory items.

If it was MY game, I would kill anyone who would dare suggest adding something unnecessary which would require extra programing and animation...

I say go with the vest. It goes well with the dark hat, and 5 o'clock shadow. Sorta fits the rugged look of the character.

Bit late I guess, but I say go with the vest, even if it reminds me more of Crocodile Dundee. Hey, what about a poncho! :-P

no vest...the vest gives him that "i've seen this guy before" look...without the vest he is more risque and like "what will he do next? dismember a sheep?" but with a sorta Everyman appeal

I think that the "gets the vest later" idea that was suggested would be a good way to go. Just want to comment that your game sounds pretty engaging and I admire the art-style for your characters. I always like cartoony or exaggerated to an extent.

The vest gives him a rugged appeal that the one without misses a bit. Disregarding whether it's ugly or not; I'd mistake him sooner for an adventurer if he was wearing a worn-down brown vest
